Ciao, it was me, no problem with 1n (can get 5, 4hd epg 105,140 etc)

Ciao a tutti

Ciao Enzo,
WHat brand of 1.4m dish, do you have the width and hight measurments.

I have a Fracarro larger dish, 135cm high, 125 wide. Maybe not quite enough to drag in the verticals as you have on a 1.4m in Nola

Compareing it to my 1m Fracaro its only 1.5db better on SNR is this about right for the size increase.

Thanks for the tip.

I don't need a CI slot so I've ordered a TBS Q-Box DVB-S2 form Amazon for £48 which CrazyScan claims they support.

I'm going to use it in the UK to watch FTA F1 from 19E on my HTPC but I will take it to Spain to see what it is like with fringe reception. That's assuming they don't close down 2D too early and switch everything to 1N!

Terry

Terry, I'm not sure the Amazon £48 device supports CraazyScan. TBS have a few devices branded as Q-Box but the one you have ordered might be the most basic chipset. For USB I think you need the 5980, 5922 or 5925 to get CrazyScan support.

you have said this before, about 26 and 28,what size dish starts to be a problem, and where is this problem (not uk as 26 is 2 weak there)

10.730V - 28.41 dec 0.08

10.770H -26.07 dec 0.01
10.773H -28.41 dec 0.08

10.890H -26.07 dec 0.01
10.891H -28.41 dec 0.08

dont see a problem with other 2d tps....
They don't have to be on the same centre frequency. Badr5 transponders are a good 25MHz wide and 2D's about 20MHz.

Astra 2 is the jam in the sandwich between 26E and 30E, both of which have transponders in band D. Have a look at the spectrum grabs below (taken from my home location) and just remember things are going to get much worse once Badr5 starts lighting up more transponders.

180cm dish pointing at 28E vertical, does a pretty good job of filtering off Badr5 transponders.
28E-vertical-180cm-dish.jpg

30E vertical (on a 90cm dish)... note the 2 transponders in band D at the top of the spectrum.
30E-vertical-90cm-dish.jpg

26E vertical (on a 90cm dish)... note the 3 transponders in band D at the top of the spectrum.
26E-vertical-90cm-dish.jpg

27.5E vertical (on a 90cm dish)... Badr5 is still the powerhouse in band D.
27E5-vertical-90cm-dish.jpg

28E vertical (on a 90cm dish)... Badr5 transponders are still superimposed over the Astra 2D transponders. Also note those transponders from Badr5 are almost the same level as the three 1N transponders below them in band C. Once you get to 28.2E (just 0.2º west of this grab) Badr5 transponders merge with 2D ones, but can still be clearly seen.

Break down of the 28E vertical spectrum using a 180cm dish.

In the very south of the Costa Blanca and the north of Murcia it has been common practice for the last few years to install 1.3m dishes for BBC/ITV reception, but now with Badr5 there 10729V, 10758V, 10788V, & 10818V only work between midday and 8pm, and are either heavily pixelated or non-existent at all other times. And there is no 2D horizontal reception in the region, so it is either BBC1 HD from 10847V if they have an HD receiver and ITV1 CI from 10906V, but no ITV2 or ITV4, nor any SD BBC channels. And no C4, E4, or More4.

Have any of those got hardware blind scan?

Edit: forget that, I can see the 5925 has it.

Ratchet,

Thanks for your comments but the following was taken from the latest CrazyScan README.txt file ...

Full supported devices:
STV090X based:
Omicom S2 PCI, TT S2-1600, Prof 7301/7500/8000, TBS 6925 V1.x & 2.x, TBS QBox2(5920), TBS QBox-CI(5980), TBS 5925.

I believe I’ve bought a QBox2 so it should be OK.

TBS also does a QBox III which is not supported. I found it strange that the old device was supported but the new was not?

Amazon has a 7 day money-back guarantee so I guess I will be opening the box very carefully and sending it back if all is not well.

Terry

Ciao, sorry for my delay in replying ,(despite the heavy rain I've been around all day long) .
By the way: my dish is branded Galaxy. I didn't really check yet the verticals, (as I was happy for still getting C5 4HD etc etc, hoping to get also in the future any of the BBC ) could you suggest to me any frequency I could try ? I'll let you know asap .

Have a nice day
Ciao a tutti
Vincenzo

Losts of movement and renaming going on at the moment on 11053H 22000 5/6 (The ITV transponder on 1N)

Only SonyTV left on 11.973V - It's a mass abandon ship over to 1N for ITV it seems.

Yup. People in Canaries already asking where is ITV gone, cant get it no more as their (small) dishes cannot get 1N!

The BBC channels look like they are at normal signal strengths here

10786V may be down a shade compared to the others but as I barely ever look at the channels on that freq its hard to say if thats normal or not.

Can anyone tell me why the two ITV's and +1 are almost as before but other channels from 1N are not being received? Excuse once again my ignorance of such matters, will a better LNB help or is it purely a dish size problem?
