I am probably lucky and the sharp null wall is a few km more to the west.
I'm still getting the "Madrid secondary lobe"
Kota isn't the only one trying, there are at least two reports of 3m dishes on the Lisbon area that get nothing
If I had the time (and money) I could get a van for measuring where it starts to really fade away like another member here did in Spain

BTW, I went to try and use a big old dish my friend has, but it was unusable, I'll have to fix it first
I've never seen a dish that deep , where can I post a new thread so you guys can help me identify the manufacturer?

Kota, what dish size are you using? TBH, I don't believe the stories down there of 4 metre dishes not working. And if Altman has already locked one transponder with what he's using I'm sure stepping up to a 1.5m would get him the rest.

As per signature. Wish you were right but I gave up the 2F-2E issue altogether. In my location it's simply not possible to receive the UK beams with any domestically acceptable sized dish AFAIK.

here it is:
sorry for the bad quality pics, these were taken with a mobile phone, with low light
I didn't remember to measure it, but its at least 1.8m, installed about 20 years ago
construction wise I think its rolled steel, as it has the central hole and the edge is rolled backwards, its smooth, not an edge at all
the polar mount is extremely thick galvanized steel, bolt sizes go from huge to ridiculous ;)

It looks like a 1.8m Marrafa-Antel very early sample. I'm afraid those weren't very good and the famaval's which followed were much better. Tried both types myself and can vouch for the latter.

yes, really low efficiency due to low F/D but in the other hand that should give high selectivity in cases where there are two strong sources in the same frequency very close
I was betting on a Kreiselmeyer due to the whole system being imported from Germany

example of a 1.4m found on the web:
dscf8497.jpg

source: http://www.boehmel.de/tf3000e.htm

couldn't found pictures from Marrafa/antel examples online
BTW Marrafa is still in business: http://www.antebolicas.com/

3.1m in Lisbon and nothing on the 2f and 2e spot beams.
The signal is flat on a spectrum analyzer with absolutely no evidence that there are live transponders on those frequencies.
This is really a deep null area...

Pehaps this is what you need, Goonhilly 6, 32m ku and c band, now I believe has been upgraded to include X and Ka band, should be ok for community installation! ( I worked there for a while, a few years ago)

Uhm - that's a nice dish. I bet it gets EVERY satellite visible in the UK.... Can I have one in my back yard?

Depends on your bank balance!

And according to Huevos, local planning rules!

Has anyone else noticed a significant drop in signal strenghth today - both 2E and s2F beams? Atmospheric conditions I guess but the weather hasn't changed much over the past few days.

Yes. It's down about 0.5dB compared to normal. But there has been heavy cloud and some rain today.

Huevos, have you formulated any theory as to why 2e drops much more than 2f between 22:30 and 23:30, when on batteries? Is it possible they have a different battery type, not able to sustain the same power output, or is it anything to do with altitude, or exact geo location?

No idea! Has 2E got more active transponders?

At a quick count, according to flysat, only four or five more, can it make that much difference?

Ok before you reply , roughly 20% more power required, but don´they build that into the equation before they put the bird up there?
