This was our car yesterday. :-rofl2

It does have roof bars on it, although they are now completely hidden! As you can see its up to its axles.....

Looks more like a crumpled snowman of a reclining Buddha than a car.

I have been in one of those, I think they are great.

Like the old style mini it is just like being in a go kart. Can be scary on a motorway packed with lorries but that doesn't happen too often round here.

They have a new version based on the new Fiat 500 which is nowhere near as good. It's a real shame they are getting rid of the old body.

I've been arrested for wearing more than that.

Anyways, more on its way in a couple of hours, we had one 3 hour power outage last night.

A picture from nearby earlier today.

I don't know how venerable esteemed friends here are, but I cannot recall snow this bad since 1962.

1962 is before my time, but theres definitely more snow here now than there was in the bad weather at the end of last year / early January this year.

And the awful thought is that its not going to go anywhere now until the new year :(

Still no snow in Berkshire, had a centimetre yesterday, but other than that, clear here, hope it stays that way until after Christmas.:)

Re the Winter of 1962/63. We had just moved in the late Summer of 1962 from a small mining village near Durham (Bowburn) to Stockton on Tees. From time to time we travelled back along the A177 to visit relatives. It's very clear in my memory that the snow drifts (through which a path had been cleared) were level with the top floor of the United double decker. I can't recall it being as cold as now, though we had moved from a colliery house to a modern semi with central heating and an inside toilet!

Good point about the extra localised heights/depths of snow as the result of drifting - fortunately we haven't had much drifting yet. I sincerely hope we don't.

If anyone has any doubt about how bad conditions are in Scotland atm - all the SPL games on Saturday have been postponed due to the ongoing travel chaos. The pitches would be playable due to the undersoil heating but the safety of the travelling spectators cant be guaranteed.

Most of the SFL lower league games are expected to follow tomorrow.

My motor is seemingly frozen at 13e... Don't wanna keep trying it incase I break something, so guess it's just 13e until it defrosts

EDIT: Any tips to quickly thaw out a motor?

Soak a towel in warm water, wring it well and cover the motor with it? - repeat a few times

Light a candle under it?? - relight every time the water drips onto it

Borrow the wifes hairdryer??? - make sure you dont get caught :-rofl2

Andy, leave the dish on 13°E and tune to 10815H. The channels may be scrambled but Lyngsat lists them as........Red Hot s_x TV 1 - 4. Might be enough to thaw out the motor LOL

The warm towel worked a treat thanks!

Also, while I was out doing it, I found the 5 bottles of Stella we buried in the snow to chill on monday night, then got a bit merry and forgot about :D

Might be worth spraying the motor with a good water repellant spray as well (WD40, GT85, Plusgas or similar) (having first removed all the snow!)
