Rain has now turned to snow here in Cambs. The last significant fall we had in November cleared in a few days. I think this lot is here to stay.

SWMBO has just rung from her work's Car Park to say she is delayed as the windscreen is iced up ............. just poked my head out the door and I see the temperature has plummeted dramatically in the last half-hour or so.

Lentils it is.

It won't be long before there is total coverage again. The snow showers today are just the start.

At the end of Frozen Scotland U-zzz they hoped they would not be back with another special programme. It is not listed in the schedules for BBC1 Scotland - yet. It can only be a matter of time. It will be interesting to see if the same transport mistakes are made and people are stuck in their cars once again. And interesting to see if the same tired excuses are made, they have had time to prepare and a bit of practice lately.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Temperatures now below freezing here, and so the rain at dusk is now solid and likely to hang around for a few days.

All outdoor work postponed for the time being

More dramatic pictures from Yankland - freezing spray has turned a lighthouse into a giant popsicle! :D

Really icy this morning ............. the half-inch or so of snow that settled yesterday morning froze by dusk and has hardened overnight.

Glad I filled my Oil Tank and 43p/l and fixed my boiler before all this nasty stuff. Lots of reports of big backlogs (several weeks) for Oil deliveries and also profiteering.

Ay.

Heating Oil has gone from 43p/l to 70p/l in some cases.

My tankful should last until mid Feb by which time I hope Government has taken steps to make this particular market more transparent.

A couple of light snow showers here and the wind has turned NW and is blowing decidedly colder. Temp is still above freezing though.

Crikey! Our's is about 118 Cents a litre. That makes it roughly £1.04 a litre at current rate, but diesel has always been cheaper here. Unleaded about 133 cents/L.

What a pain. :(

The roads are even more like a roller coaster than usual. The thaw revealed that the pot holes are expanding and new ones were starting to form, where the first inch or so of the road had disappeared. This has made driving more bumpy because the snow makes it impossible to see and avoid them.

Yeah, but Summer returns on Sunday!

Not got above -2C here all day. Spent my time replacing SWMBO's Fortec Star with a Kaon and providing her with an eejit proof channel list for her French, Italian, Spanish and German Channels.

I hope you paid only what it is worth - about 50 pence. O-no

Todays -2C doesn't feel cold compared to the last cold period. Then the car screen wash nozzles froze solid while driving around in the full sun in the middle of the day. Not fun when the amount of muck thrown up meant having to clean the screen every five minutes or so.
