Fortunately ours is working of sorts now I have replaced the diverter, pressure relief valve and one of the two thermisters.

I still have to reconnect a radiator on the back room though, currently there is a temperature differential of some 18 degrees.

What's wrong with yours ?

the 1963 Winter is the one I remember,

We'd moved to Stockton on Tees in the summer of 1962 and I can remember travelling back to Durham in January of '63 on the 'United' double decker and the drifts were as high as the top deck...

Had to put a Pipe Stat on the water return to our boiler (which is in an external boiler house) , as when the Frost Stat kicks in it runs continuously. The Pipe Stat will cut it off when the return temp. reaches 10C.

Stops boiler freezing, but doesn't waste oil needlessly.

Freaking freezing - especially with the dead boiler :( Brrrr
Much sympathy! :(

Has happened to us once or twice - but luckily when the weather was not so bad as right now, and we always have the lounge gas fire (and the gas hob in the kitchen) to fall back on if it does.

We do have a log burner in the lounge but it only really keeps the downstairs warm.

Electric en-suite shower is the only source of hot water... (other than endless teas)

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was easily the worst day I can recall for a long time for all day dismal and woebegone weather conditions.
Rainy, sleety, cold, gloomy half-light, treacherous ice in footpath puddles and potholes thawing into turgid muddy foot traps.
Today, a blazing sun beckoning me out for a bracing walk, and with fast-improving conditions underfoot too - until the next cold spell :(

Just a bit windy here be good for the washing maybe.

As long as we don’t have any more black ice it’ll be fine, bruised leg healing up after other week.

Bright and shining here, and 11C.

Rang the Church Bells for Christmas Morning Service, just had a massive Lunch, now off out for a walk before settling down with Madge and a Mince Pie.

Mild, grey and windy most of the day and now just mild, dark grey and very windy. More of same forecast for tomorrow, I just wish I could hibernate till Easter.

Yes & yes :)

Getting between 4 & 5meg now things have stabilised, and Im hiding the dishes behind the garage. Only the farmer & the neighbours can see them and no-one has said anything yet :)

Gusts of rain coming in from the north west.

The neighbours have lost one of their fence panels that had been banging during the last bout of windy weather.
