Had a superb long walk in the Yorkshire sunshine this afternoon. It was so clear we could see right across the Vale of Mowbray across to the Dales. Proper job.

For some reason, I've got a craving for a pork pie......

Actually, there are VoM Pork Pies on the market and a while ago some ignorant Southern Journo wrote a piece condemning what she saw as wrongful use of the word "Mowbray" ..... she'd probably never been north of Grantham!

Actually, our local butcher (English, though he does cuts of meat to suit both his French and UK clientele) does pork pies. Personally, I find their pastry a little 'firm' (I.E. 'rock like'), though he did a pork pie wedding cake for someone we know. They have made others, one of which featured in that 'Escape to the Chateau' programme.

Here we go again!

"Down here" we've got wind, rain and a bit of sleet. "Up North" it seems to be a lot worse - don't think there'll be another "superb walk in the Yorkshire sunshine" for Lazarus today

No, its nice. Very light sprinkling of snow, but nothing to trouble the horses.

Amusing, however, to watch and hear the Southern-centric Media getting their collective knickers in a bunch about, errrm, winter.

Anyhow, SWMBO is back at work and I are mostly been unblocking my Printers nozzles.

Well there's no sleet, much less snow here, but the garden has been rearranged by the gusts once again.

I've got the not-much-liked job of driving SWMBO right across London to see her best friend in S.E. London - and then "put up with" the other half who is always asking me questions but rarely expressing any real opinions of his own :(!

Not feasible from here ATM with all the Christmas rail and Tube closures in London :( :( - too many potential long waits on cold platform, changes, and then a long walk to the final address (and with quite a few heavy presents)!
PS: that would probably have taken 2-3hrs each way - the car journey there was 90mins and then 75 to get back again.

There is Skype.....
SWMBO hasn't seen her friends for a year although they talk on the phone (for lo...ng periods!) and they were both very keen to actually SEE each other

Well, here we go AGAIN - been a clear and cold day here, with the coldest night of the year predicted. So, what's going on where you are?
PS: I'm looking after next door's (the family has gone to Ireland for the holidays) cat - and we had to make sure he was in the house overnight (we know the forecast - he doesn't!).

I'm hoping my recent Central Heating mod. to include a Pipe Stat on the boiler return will stop the house getting insufferably warm when the Frost Stat kicks in.

That said, "cold" to Londoners is "tropical" to normal people.

I'll take "tropical" indoors ATM (= about 24C :) ) any day (especially today!).

Has been +3c overnight here...usually the living room drops to about 17c - 18c overnight and was up to 22c last night with the log (peasant) burner going. The ambient heat from the kitchen Rayburn helps maintain the temperature downstairs....
