I was going to push it with a long pole rather than pull it towards me LOL.....it's the bit that reminds me of the 'Old Man of Hoy' that worries me....

Sooner now, it seems: 80mph winds across the country from this evening followed by monstrous rain late tonight and tomorrow, with snow in Scottish Borders (especially Galashiels).

I am being treated to a cooked breakfast in bed and haven't yet dared to check out the dish farm.

Supposed to be doing a big food shop this morning - I guess we shall have to starve instead!

Blowing a Howling Hooley here, no dish problems or collapsed walls (yet). Will have to venture out for supplies this afternoon myself, I think it's forecast to have abated to an ordinary hooley by then.

A bit breezy here this morning, have to put all of the kit back on the van and then I've got an inside job this afternoon, so shouldn't be too bad.:)

This is worse than "Hurricane Bawbag" last month. On the way in this morning I saw downed trees, street signs, traffic lights, overturned lorries and runaway wheelie bins. The work's building is shaking like mad and the tide is higher than I've ever seen it in the city centre.

Well brekkie in bed was excellent.

Now completed dish farm rounds and all seems present and correct.

About to drive twenty miles to the Supermarket, so that'll be fun in this wind!

And, joking aside, it looks like Scottish Borders are in for the worst of it.

Its certainly a wild old day out. However we are reasonably well sheltered by the trees around us More exposed areas are getting a beating though. I'll go out later on and see if there are any trees down.

Got your balaclava ?

Whilst the wind round here started at about 2am last night, it has now picked up considerably. Certainly no ladder work today, and I'm not even sure I want to drive anywhere.

There are rports that the Epsom racecourse grandstand is now a convertible.

It's the Duchess stand, less than three years old and some 30% over budget.

Well my shopping trip is now at an end - not verynice at all on the exposed reaches of the A1M near Boroughbridge.

As well as the typhoon, we are getting some really heavy rain storms followed by bright blue sky then more rain storms.

I still blame Sir Attenborough.

And Clarkson, obviously.
