Stunningly bright and clear day here - looks like the incoming warm (!) front from the west is going to stall and move only very slowly: At least the soothsayers had the grace to say this morning they did not know when or where snow would fall.

Well we went out for a lengthy post-prandial perambulation this afternoon and although the thermometer struggled to get above 5C, there was not a breath of a breeze and it was really lovely.

Monday looks a bit iffy, mind.

Meteo France have just issued an 'Alerte Orange' concerning the two departments next to me for snow and sub zero temps tomorrow afternoon and evening. I'll keep my eyes peeled but I hope they're just taking the pith.

It's pretty tropical here, snowed them little polystyrene-ball-like flakes for a bit this morning, but now, it's above 0 degrees Celsius, so not really that cold...

It's +1.3°C outside according to my weather station so the snow (which is still falling) isn't falling on frozen ground but is accumulating and we have about 3" now.

BTW, it's always been barmy here.....

The current cold weather is because of an absolutely massive high pressure which stretches halfway round the world from the Bering Straits in far eastern Russia to the UK!

A tiny bit of sleet around 16.30 for arf an hour, but otherwise not even really cold right now.

It's just cloudy here with some small amounts of very fine icy bits falling, not really snow, but it's trying... O-Ha

The BBC says we should expect rainy snow between 9am and 12pm...
