If BBC would follow suit then Sky would get masses of revenue in Iberia.

C4 has historically been on that frequency for years. Its only the Irish sub region (and its probably only a matter of time until its moved over to the UK spot)

The Beeb CANNOT broadcast to Iberia just for you expats who are missing your home telly - they dont pay for the programme rights for outside the UK & Ireland (plus an accepted amount of overspill)

However this is well off topic for this thread, which is supposed to be an info thread to help expats get a limited (& and ever diminishing amount of uk psb tv)..

At the risk of being slightly OT, I think it is worth pointing out that UTV Ireland has quite a high content of typical ITV programming, is on PE beams and is receivable (off EPG) by anyone with a UK Sky subscription.

As far as I am aware only the HD version opens with a UK card and it's assumed by some to be a mistake. None of the UK cards I've tried work with the SD version.

I am receiving both with an HD sub. It is a UK card from the Northern Ireland region. The channels are not on the EPG.

My three Sky cards are from the London region and only the one with an HD sub opens UTV HD, UTV SD remain encrypted on all the cards.

This is odd. The obvious answer would be because I have a Northern Ireland sub, but if it was supposed to be receivable there, then it would be on the EPG.

I distributed the information about tuning in UTV Ireland on a local forum here (before launch) and several people reported receiving the caption. Not sure what regions they have though.

Yes. But if that was the intention it would be on the EPG like the RTE channels etc. are.

Thats why its working for you. Neither should open for me - A south Scotland postcode & no pay hd channels. Havent had a chance to double check yet.

It looks like the ITV 2 3 4 HD channels will be moving onto the UK beams in the near future.

ITV transponder 11053H has been lit up with 3 encrypted tests on it, plus a couple of other fta other testcards.

I doubt it means they are going fta - its just a way of saving money instead of paying to hire capacity on Sky's widebeam.

Same situation in norway with the bbc equivalent nrk1 hd, they have a nrk1 hd oslo based but the regionals are still sd

Ive added in UTV Ireland SD & HD to the main list. ATM they are listed as being available on Irish & NIreland subscription level cards - although the HD version may still be available on all HD level cards

Because you have put this in the psb channels section,do you mean this channel UTV Ireland has the same programming of ITV?

More or less. ISTR there are a few programmes missing.

In any case its part of the overall ITV family of channels so it qualifies for inclusion.

To be honest I never watch ITV so I wouldnt know the nuances of the programming.
