The RAI channels will stay on 13E - thats where all the Italian domestic dishes point. The 5W / 9E multistreams feed the local tv transmitter network.

But do we think the RAI Multistreams will move - no sign of them appearing on 9E as far as I know....?

I think they will move eventually - but we wiil have to wait & see. Only Eutelsat know what the exact power situation with 5WB is, although the last press release said 45% power is available. By the time the Fransat frequencies have been taken into account that wont leave much in hand for anything else.

Its a big job re-aligning several hundred (several thousand?) head end dishes - its not something thats going to be finished in 2 or 3 weeks.

@ Analoguesat: Well indeed (big job to re-align dishes at UHF transmitter stations), but you can't even start to do that until you have double illumination. So one would think that if the RAI multistreams were going to move off 5W eventually then they'd already be up and running on 9E....

I understand the public uses 13E anyway,
and 9E /5W are meant to supply tivusat ,a technical back up of some kind.

The multistreams do not feed tivusat, but they feed the bridges for DTT.
I believe that only the RAI feeds will remain at 5°W, while the Mediaset/Persidera/Cairo-2 (they feed about or a little more than 1000 repeaters), should turn them off to make room for Fransat... And only then does Fransat switch to E5WB.

Ive moved a reasonable selection of the reports off the launch thread now that 5WB is in full service

Whilst scanning channels on 5W last night I was surprised to get four sports channels in the clear which don't appear on the usual listings, including satellitweb.

They might have been a promotion of course, basketball and north american 'soccer' were being shown. Did anyone else see them (around 10pm)

I knew that at 5 degrees west the French and Italian channels are intended for land reception ... so in the future this will be the final destination ... I understood that 9 degrees east is a transitional position, a conjuncture situation ... and finally all the Italian and French channels will be 5 degrees west.
Probably the future Quantum satellite, expected to be launched at 12.5 degrees west ... will be located at 5 degrees west and at 12.5 degrees west will move E5wb ... or one of the HB satellites, expected to be placed at 13 east, will be placed 5 degrees west.
So far there are speculations ... but I did not understand whether the position 9 degrees east is final for the Italian or temporary channels.

As a result, from June 1st, Fransat’s existing customers will no longer be able to access the pay-TV offerings from beIN Sports and OCS, as well as five other channels (Canal J, Tiji, Boing, Boomerang and Toonami). All new subscriptions have already been suspended earlier this month, says Fransat.

Of the current 7 Fransat transponders on 5 West A only a couple will now move to 5 West B,

I make it three Fransat transponders that still need to move, 10972 MHz, 11054 Mhz, and 11138 MHz (the one that carries RMC sport, which we've been told won't be switched off according to that cull plan). Unless of course they can find a way to distribute the channels on 11138 MHz across their other transponders, in which case there would only be two transponders still to move.

Hi! I just thought it could be interesting with an update. I have been making some improvements to my pointing and so far this is the best I managed, in absolute values this means 11,1 dB for 11096 V, 10,7 db for 11471 V and 10,4 dB for 11554 . In addition, I'm now using and Inverto PLL LNB. I know I can get it just a little bit better (+0,3 dB for each as shown in the screenshots from the satfinder) which I had before but due to some strong winds last week I had to repoint the dish and I have not managed to get it as good as before.

I have tried an emme esse dish which is just 3cm wider but the results were not as good...I would need to spend more time on it and see how good I can get it. The reception is good enough with clear sky but late in the evening I get some pixels on 11554 V. I have a little bit of margin for 11096 V and 11471 V even in bad weather. Right now I believe I will not need a new antenna but if a larger one (125 cm) pops up in the second hand market I would probably go for it :D

Looking at the maps, anything ending up on B transalpine will be goodbye in scandinavia (unless maybe some supermegadish ?).
Have given up 5w in N, got tnt 19e 17dB on smallish dish (tnt box ridculously basic, slow etc, but most important is excellent reception & picture).

Mine (in Oslo) is a Famaval 110 (in reality 105...), there's a guy in Kristiansund N getting excellent reception on E5WB with a Triax 110...so chances are that the reception in Bergen is not so bad with a 110 which I still consider reasonable but I understand your point...the main reason why I keep E5WB is for the sports channels. I have also read that picture quality is not as good in 19E but not sure how "true" that is though...

Am only going for the normal french channels, so of course anyone wanting the extras will need more than a basic tnt.
The tnt 19e picture quality looks excellent, to my eyes at least, also compared to any other hd on 19e.
If I'd needed 5w, I'd wait for the transponders to settle down (should happen soon?), then get the suitable dish dimension.
Good luck.
