funniest thing about vettels crash was the marshall tripping over his own feet and going A over T in the rush to get to Vettel!

If you have forgotten just how dangerous the F1 cars used to be have a look at this clip from the French GP in 1979.

Drivers heads horribly exposed & catch fencing down the sided of the track are just 2 of the major safely flaws of 1970's racing!

Nice to see the era when cars were different though - Compare a Renault to a Ferrari - these days change the paint job on one car and most folks would be hard pressed to identify the car. In this film the Ferrari looks like an upturned bathtub!

FP3 is about to start on the red button (or Stream 0 on a generic box)

I thin kfor next year we should have some sort of sweepstake for every time someone says "for sure"...Stephano has said it 4 times so far...and Schuey and Vettel likes to say it a lot also....

Ha ha - stephano to Eddie - good luck in your horse race - in reference to EJs shirt!!!

Back to the F1 - Charlie Whiting has banned the fancy new blown exhausts from Silverstone next month, and the exhaust pipes will have to be longer - extending beyond the rear wheels to stop fancy aerodynamic tricks from next year:

Actually the lemans is relevant to F1.
Both huge crashes at Lemans is when faster cars are overtaking slower cars.
One of the issues of haveing multiple category cars in the same race.
So think a F1 grid of 20 cars, and then at the same time on the same race and same grid another 20 cars all with Hispania performance, all getting in the way of the better performing cars....
Yet they allow cars outside the 107% rule to start the race...when they will either fail to finish the race or end up being 10 laps down.

The 107% rule is a bad rule. Whats the point in having it if its then ignored by the stewards?

Either you use it in all the races and apply it 100% or you scrap it.

just like the "is it a drive through penalty, or a time penalty at the end of the race (which in many cases does not affect the result).
Personally I prefer the add 5 or 10 places to the next grid rule for most penalties. Then you can see some of those fast cars tearing through the rest of the grid!

Hmm. I seam to do so well with points in Quali, but kack at the race...Am 3rd on the grid this race....

I have to agree about the 107% rule. A rule is not a rule unless it's enforced. Though I'd like to see the explanation of why they chose '7%' as it seems a figure plucked from the air. The problem with Le Mans is that you have differing classes of cars (with quite large speed differentials and standards of drivers) in the same race. Hmm....a bit like F1 really.

Hoooo!! What a race. A two hour hold up due to a flooded track, and Jenson comes from 21st to win the race after 6 trips through the pits (1 penalty & 5 tyre changes!)

With the conditions it'll be slapped wrists all rounds & fines. Half the field seems to be under investigation for one thing or another!
