There’s a 422 FTA crufts feed on 3W 11089 V 30000 3/5 if anybody wants to test the combo’s limits.

Surprisingly my phone is playing it ok ish, not super smooth but watchable.

Enigma2 gives it a bit rate of 51 Mb/s
Damn I’d just stepped out earlier and noticed your post. Was hoping to check one of those 4.2.2 feeds on my setup. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to do it tomorrow. If you do pull in another 4.2.2 feed let us know. Thanks

Good question about Auto Biss I'd love to know too.

At first I though it searched a certain Biss forum by the channel name or freq, But I had my box clear a channel where the Biss Key hadn't been posted about yet, so it must have some sort of database inside it?

On 21663H 7200 7E there's a Biss coded football feed. The GT Media Combo revealed all in no time flat.

Odd anomaly. I fitted a new 32GB SD card into the Combo and have tried recording some content, nothing taxing (non HD/UHD).

On playback I sometimes get the audio, sometimes it is silent. There appears to be no way of checking or maintaining one or the other (I've turned off and on/disconnected/tried all buttons) or logical reason why is is happening.

Insert a USB Stick and try recording similar content to it. Play back that content and compare it to the play back on the SD card. Also remove the SD from the Combo and try playing it back on a PC for comparison. I wouldn’t recommend an SD card for heavy read/write operations. One way of killing the card.

Same.

It would be interesting to know why different media might affect the audio output of a recording.

There’s plenty of discussion papers on the pros and cons of each media format on the web. Here’s a basic outline of one. Store video files on USB, SD card, microSD, or external hard drive?

I’m not experiencing those video/sound issues on the Combo with recording to USB external HDD but if you feel it’s a problem for you report it on the GT Media forum and they’ll step you through the problem.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Question: has anyone managed to get an LG webos TV to directly play BISS/4.2.2. encoded video from the Combo??
(somehow I doubt it!)

Unfortunately I can’t test that for you (don’t have an LG) but for anyone with an Android based TV you can install the GT Media app GTShare. It’s optimised to display the output from GT Media products.

Have you tried installing GT Share on the Combo. You should be able to view that feed in real time.

The recordings are on the card(s), it's just on playback I can sometimes receive the audio, and yet other times it is silent.

As I mentioned unless I could reproduce the conditions it’s impossible to provide a solution. @tompouce has indicated he is experiencing no difficulties when recording to a USB stick. The problem may lie outside the Combo. Try loading the recorded results into VLC where you can inspect them further for any anomalies and do report your issue to the GT Media forums where they address it in further detail.

Just checked, the recordings on the SD card play back perfectly on the laptop. No time to verify the USB stick at the moment.

Earlier in the thread when I suggested you try your recordings in a PC your replied “same” so I assumed you were experiencing the same issues playing them on a PC.

I also suggested installing GTShare the GT Media app optimised for their receivers from the Google Play store. You can install it either on the Combo or even an Amazon FireTV Stick or Cube. Just make sure everything is on the same LAN. You may be surprised at the results. Two minutes work.

Your suggestion was

Insert a USB Stick and try recording similar content to it. Play back that content and compare it to the play back on the SD card

The issue appears to be the playback of media recordings from the receiver (I am speculating the USB stick will also play back perfectly when tried on another device)

How would the installation of GTShare improve the receiver's understanding and playback of content ?

The purpose of my original suggestion was to compare playback of recorded material on an SD card in the Combo v playback of the same material on the SD card on a PC. Following that I suggested trying the same experiment using a USB stick this time and possibly as a third experiment using a USB hard disk. The purpose of this was to demonstrate the read/write access times of each media and how any lag in the read/write operation COULD cause syncing issues between video and audio output. That’s why I posted the link to the discussion on this subject.

Regarding the installation of the GTShare app I purely suggested this to demonstrate how this app is optimised for GTMEDIA products and is a third option along with the two integrated media players on the Combo to view 4.2.2 feeds either in real time or recorded. It takes two minutes to install and if you don’t like it you can uninstall it even quicker. Again it’s entirely up to you what you do.

Attached is a cap from the real time output of the GTShare app of a 4.2.2 broadcast.

Of course I also suggested that if your issue persisted that you report it on the GTMEDIA forum who I have no doubt will resolve it quite quickly.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Update:

Having had a look at the GTMedia Shop which quoted me 105 Euros, I came across TV / IPTV / SAT Receivers which quoted 92 Euros including delivery by Mon 14th March - then again I wonder if HMRC will charge any Duty/VAT before I get it as it's actually appears to be coming from Spain????

Well, maybe next week('ish) then:confused
Well, I can now say that I am very unlikely to buy anything from that website ("PowerPlanetonline" in Spain) again, and I wouldn't advise amyone else to either (unless they were "desperate"), OR to use the NACEX courier service which they use (and I'd never heard of till last week) - & final delivery in the UK appears to have been by Speedlink.

To cut a very long story short, I ordered and paid for it on Mon 8th March but it wasn't shipped until Friday 11th March - even though, according to their Ts & C's it should have been shipped with 24th hrs of payment on a weekday. - and I didn't get confirmation of shipment until Mon 14th March, after I chased them.

After that, the tracking trail was long and tortuous - see the jpg below which tracks it up to the 18th - and that hasn't changed since then! Therefore I chased them again this morning, only to be told they didn't know where the package was and would have to interrogate the courier, but not heard any back from them yet.
NACEX tracking as of 17.30 (UK time) on 19th March 2022.JPG

Nevertheless, in the meantime earlier today (and whilst I was out) the package did actually arrive here, and thus I now have my Combo to examine & test out - but they don't know that!

The ONLY saving grace of this chaos was that I got it for just over £75 delivered, which is a little lower than most places elsewhere, and that PowerPlanet claim to offer a 3 yrs warrantee - though whether I'd actually bother (dare??) to send it back to them after this shipment fiasco is entirely another issue:rolleyes:

You actually got it. That’s an achievement in itself. 10 days shipping from Murcia to the UK isn’t bad either bearing in mind it left the the EU so has to have additional checks prior to delivery. Once parcels are handed out of their own logistics network forget about tracking. That’s just a sales tool to make you feel safe.

At least most of the setup/testing has been done for you here already. Just plug it in and fire it up. Personally I found the box a little underwhelming but for those who just want to experience the view of 4.2.2. feeds I suppose it ticks that box.

The fact that Planetonline is based in the EU and actually has a bricks and mortar shop in Murcia Spain does give a little more peace of mind v a virtual store in the Far East. The Combo is a big seller I’m Spain. Don’t forget the GTMEDIA forum where you will get most of the support you require.
