Same chip, same CPU, extra 16gb ROM. I dont see anything there thats gonna play 4:2:2 any smoother.
Typical of most companies now..release another box before ironing out the bugs in the older one first..

if its same OS and CPU and tuner, then the bugs will be on the new one anyway. and if they get fixed, u never know they "might" release an update for the older box....or they will use that to force sales of new, and old is dead forever.

Has the GTX receiver been out before, or was the name assigned to another model ?

You're probably thinking of the GTC, the one before the GT, also bug ridden..

Tin box shifters and no shortage of takers by all accounts. Wonder would they qualify as forever tuners. In this case forever falling short of expectation. Not to be confused with the forever tuners that require paid updates on a regular basis hiding behind a paid VPN service. The real false economy.

Not that one, perhaps I was thinking of the GTS, also Android.

I wouldn't call the GT Combo bug ridden, it has faults but to date the one here has carried on doing what was claimed on the box.

A matter of opinion..compared to my Icone iron pro, which also runs Android and seamlessly it is..

It certainly has quirks - that audio 'wow' for example - which is why I rarely use the GT box as the main receiver. But as a slave unit on the other side of the twin LNB it provides more channels than any other box driving the DiSEqC motor (swopping over confirms the losses on each side are virtually identical)

Yep, it's a shame really - why they have gone with the same processor, same ver9 Android etc with a new for 2023 product knowing all the grief that they have had thrown at them is a mystery - i thought they would have commented on a chip supply shortage or similar as a reason but iv'e not seen any comments yet. For my use of the reciever i could quite happily have 75% of the unwanted bloatware removed from the OS as i just don't require it, which might, give the processor a better chance to improve on the things that i do like with the reciever.

Exactly John. Seems pointless to me releasing another receiver with virtually the same spec!

The GTX is just an extension of the GT (added CI + Memory), not a new model

Invest in a decently speced PC or equivalent and DVB card or USB equivalent and you’ll save yourself a fortune.

Those dodgy DVB Android boxes are poorly designed both from a hardware, firmware and software perspective and have a maximum of two years operational use until bits start coming loose or the manufacturer ceases to develop them any further.

All they care about is shifting units to the usual suspects who appear only to happy to part with their hard earned wad. If you have roughly £100 every two years to throw to them by all means enjoy it.

Their forum users speak volumes about their product.

£75 for two years experimental/DXing/front end use then keep it for terrestrial from then on, that does sound like a bargain.

I expect the GTMedia box will last somewhat longer, the two years was courtesy of Satspot.

As a comparison the Octagon SF8008 is just on four years (with one return to supplier), though I don't use it all the time. Whilst I've not used the terrestrial part, the SF4008 I acquired some months back is well used by the previous owner but is looking good for a few years yet.
