Thanks folks

Well, the problem did not appear to happen later yesterday after the first problems around 16.00-16.30 and reception was good right until I switched off at around 21.00, and everything was fine when I turned the Free Sat on around 17.30 (although no signals at all until around 18.00) this evening, and channel changing is quick & clear - so Tururu's report seems correct but, as a Newbie on most of this stuff, I'm still suspicious that there may be other issues at this end.

Mate, just now I read this thread. I think to buy V8 Super because lnb loopthrough. Is good or better choice for blindscan and feedhunting only? Have you tried sat2ip for making snapshots on pc? This pic is from v7 i suppose...maybe v8 super will be better...?thank you 4 all

OpenSat V8S - some more comments:

Edited: actually, the sensitivity does not seem so bad because it is locking up Qatar TV HD & Oman TV HD channels and a lot of other channels on Eutelsat 7A @7W , and also quite a few on 22W amongst others, but the blindscan is not finding as many channels on that as the S952 in the X275 - and I think the default installed channel lists are pretty out of date.

One definite problem I have found is that, often, when you try to display the Transponder lists then the unit crashes and reboots - does that happen with the FreeSat boxes?0

One or more of those problems could be because the default s/w version is pretty old - 10-08-2015!

Edited 2: Tried to enter a new sat not in the database, 31.5W, but although I could enter most of the details, it would not be enter the LNB frequency parameters for a Universal LNB:mad:
I have one of these boxes, which I have brought back into service recently and was doing the same with me, after investigating the inside turned out to be a fake back with the fake flash chip, Even though the box is well over 12 months old, Amazon have had it back and refunded my money. I was sold a genuine box through a third party seller. Now have a pukka model which does not crash.

@dxsatellite
Unlikely to get any answer from blademedia as he is now, I understand, banned from this forum!
@scopus
Interesting and it could be that I also have a fake - unfortunately I got mine off ebay in mid 2017, and so very little chance of any refund:rolleyes: Not too worried as it wasn't very expensive and gets less use than the other boxes anyway.

I sure the seller on Amazon has been suspended. Best go direct to Openbox at Manchester.

Friends,

what we can say finally?

V7 is better than V8S???:-wow For feeds only!

Or is better to buy Openbox V8S?

This seller looks reliable?

GENUINE OPENBOX V8S FULL HD Freesat PVR Smart TV Satellite Receiver Channel Box | eBay

Noboby tried to take snapshot and stream with Sat2IP with Freesat (or Openbox V8S) on PC?:oops:
Personally, I would say the V8S is better for feeds, seems to find symbol rates below 1000 where the V7 does not. Avoid ebay and go direct to the main seller in the UK at Manchester. Google 'Openbox UK' and you will find them. Although these sellers claim they are genuine, many are not as I found out!

Thanks mate scopus

I need replacement for one of the my Openbox SX6, with great hardware blindscan, loopthrough and what is also "must have" possibility to watch feeds, especially 4:2:2 on PC like on SX6 and take snapshots. I supposed good option is Freesat V8 Super, with some Sat2Ip option for stream to PC, but now I`m not sure. For me as feedhunter feeds bellow 1000 are useless because never I have found TV feed bellow 1000, only radio feeds, what is not my interest. Really I`m trying for months to find something "close" to SX6, one died and I need to find replacement, and still without success. I have great TBS card, but I would like to have "non android" feedhunting set top box receiver with loopthrough to my second TBS card, and option to take snapshots like SX6 with AirTivi+. If someone can reccomend some I will be happy, but really still I have found nothing......Unfortunately manufacturers not respected enough dxers.....Technomate is good, but none has possibility for stream to PC......:(

My Icecrypt S1600CHD SE streams 4.2.2 to the PC and Android devices (app Big2Small) using Sat2IP and SMPlayer, works a treat, works very well when you want to watch Question time. That too will not find feeds below 1000SR, and has no loopthrough. I also have the Freesat VH7 that as far as I know will not stream to the PC.

Don't mean to Hijack, that Sat2IP sounds very interesting, tempted to pick up some cheap boxes, as I was using OpenWebIF so I can watch sat in the Bedroom on a Fire TV, instead of going for another E2 box that might be a solution.

I never knew the S1600CHD did streaming, especially 4.2.2 I had one a few years back that I used to take to the caravan, good little box.

:-hijack You can use an enigma2 box as a hd home run device, I use it for my plex server to record.

One concern was if I was going for a cheap box to mess around with like the V7HD I would lose streaming, didn't know Sat2IP existed, so it opens up some more options for me :)

It has got to be the SE (Second Edition) one though.

Sadly I don't have it any more, I bought it in 2014, great little box but got rid of the caravan.
Though I did send off for the free Icecrypt toy bear which turned up lol.

Turbosat that owns the Icecrypt brand have gone, due to retirement. Looks like the deal to sell the Icecrypt brand also has failed too.

Was not Icecrypt not a "version" of some other brand of sat Rx?
