I share your pain. Fortunately Forums like this mean that such issues can be resolved ..... I've experienced the gnashing of teeth when I set mine up and wouldn't want anybody else to suffer!

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Just fired up the Freesat 8S, and had a "look around" - but can't go very far because I appear to have disturbed something in the cabling outside and movement under USALS won't work (and not with the Openbox either, so it's definitely some sort of cable problem, and it's now far too dark to try to find and fix it!).

Impressions so far:
- The Freesat boots up a lot quicker than the Opensat - but that might be because it is not fully set up yet.
- The Freesat menus are generally a lot cleaner than the Opensat ones, and easier to use - but with one noted exception so far: you have to individually select every sat for which you want to use USALS and switch it on for each one, whereas with the Opensat you simply Select All and switch on USALS on the lot with a single button push on the remote (if that does also work with the Freesat, then can somebody tell me how?).
- Unless I am mistaken so far, when the Freesat is scanning a sat transponder list all you see is the progress bar and any channels that have been found, whereas the Opensat shows a rolling list of the transponder Frequencies/Polarities/SR scanned, together with OK (channels found) or FAIL (no channels found) against each one.

Ten gets one the F Connector at the Motor end of the LNB to Motor cable has unscrewed itself as the result of all the panning you've doing.

Interesting thought, and one I hadn't considered because I never touched anything on/around the motor this afternoon (and it was working fine last night when I finished scanning with the Openbox).

OTOH, I have an interconnection box at the house-end of the garden, and it houses the Smart Priority Switches to allow either the upstairs or downstairs receivers to control the dishes. I took the cover off that today and removed the last line amp from there, but that was not in the line to the motor, although so I may have accidently disturbed the connections to that motor line. Will check tomorrow lunchtime after I have sorted out everything else on the morning To-do list.

So ..
had a quick play around trying to push past the usals limits ..but to no avail.
Looks like they are set in stone for usals use Plus or Minus 60 degrees ..
for example 57East is ok ..62 East is 'out of range'
similarly 61W Amazonas is also 'out of range' ..
..and it would appear this cannot be altered or fudged to access beyond the limits.
I guess ..restricted in firmware..
unless someone knows different ?

Never used USALS, but when you select this option in the menu, the Red button is 'Limit', can you adjust in that option?

Yep ..this is what I found last night with the V7 ..and TBH ..I much prefer it that way ..
It means greater versatility of operation with regard to motor or switch selection..

Don't know why that picture has appeared twice. There is a 'Disable' option too.

Yes I get the menu ...but the dish doesn't appear to move beyond that fixed limit at + - 60 ..
Better I suppose If I could actually see the dish but it's too dark now ..and is 3 houses away ..
The little arrows flash yellow ...but is the dish moving ..
???
no idea..
;)
Maybe I'll try it again tomorrow with some daylight ....
lol
tried disable then store ..but nothing changes ..
still reports out of range ..when I select a sat beyond 60..

I presume you've opened stops up in the unit ?, most motors wont go past 60E/W without alteration.

As I explained much earlier in the thread ..
I can drive this exact usuals system to 68.5E with the F15 ..
So I should be able to repeat this with the V7
But no way is this possible..
personally I think the calculation is restricted in firmware..

I don't have this issue here.
Curiouser and curiouser ..
I have never manually altered the limits in this motor ..
AFAIK ..dark motors are allowed +- 80 AZ by default in Diseqc 1.2 ?

Here is the spec
:-
․ H-H Mount
Protocol DiSEqC 1.2 & Goto “X”
Compatible Receiver Receiver with DiSEqC 1.2 or Interface Box
Antenna Size 120 cm Max.
Speed 1.9° / sec (at 13V) ; 2.5° / sec (at 18V)
Azimuth Angle 80° East ~ 80° West ( 160° )
Elevation Angle 25~75°
Input Voltage 13 / 18Vdc
Output Voltage 13 / 18Vdc
Power Consumption 50 mA (Standby)
200mA (Normal)
350mA (Max.)
Satellite Positions 60 positions
Calibration Function Yes ( Go to 0°)
Manual East/West Buttons Yes (Build-in on the bottom of the Mount)
Limit Protection 1.Fixed type with microswitches
2.Programmable Software Limit
3.Current Limit
Positioning Sensor High Resolution Hall Effect Sensor

Dimension ( Mount ) 345 x 168 x 110 mm3 (Gross)
DiSEqC is a trademark of EUTELSAT

I am of course driving the motor in usals diseqc 1.3 ...BUT
..providing the box can do the calculation ...it theoretically should go there ?
or maybe I'm missing something.
certainly the F15 can drive it there ...in usals mode with no motor adjustment..
?

Not at home to check, but reading the Freesat forum it seems the versions from this year are causing motor and Diseqc issues.

Yes, there exists USALS routines that do not calculate beyond +/- 60°.
Probably STAB origin.
I recall this from long ago with a Topfield 5000CI.
