I'm working on a special positioner with four motors.
two motors are used for azimuth.
around the polar axis there are two parts which rotate independently.
the accuracy is much better on the eastern and western extremes. here is a photo in the 90° east position, the two actuators are deployed .

I have to wait a bit to test it but it's clearly crazy.

The possibilities are enormous and the diversions too.

Nice, using two actuators!

I can understand that it gives much better accuracy at the east side (extended), but I don't understand that it would also give better accuracy at the western extremes (retracted)?
Unless, of course, you also increased the possible maximum stroke length for the actuator in the setup (increased the shorter leg of the two legs of the rotation triangle)?

it needs a mixed positioner (mobile and fixed) in fact the power supply is either 220vac or 36Vdc batteries
I used DC-DC converters (buck converter) to create the power supplies from a 36V DC battery or mains .

yesterday i worked hard , the first positioner is built , i'm building the second one today.
I made a temporary front face it will be more beautiful with the aluminum one!

the switching power supply that we see was provided to me by FEMI, it is a 36V 360W, it is probably too powerful for most dishes (I used an 80VA transformer before) there are several powers at ALI 200W or 300W for 30euros (cheaper than the transformer!!).
the voltage is very stable and supports the PWM module inserted afterwards to achieve a slow start and a soft landing.
the 36v model can be adjusted from 30v to 40v (at 40V it's very good), we could even use the 48V model!!.

essential to update my satellite positioner.
I made a small microprocessor programmer for all ATMEL MCS-51 circuits including the at89s52 and at89lp51rd2 and at89lp4052.
it works on usb port under W7 and W10. assembly + software 40 euros.

I spent a day working on the two front panels.
The inside height was correct, the width was not. The screw holes were the other way around.
The first switch-on test, here in the picture with 36V, at least looked good.
Actually, I wanted to start with the mobile antenna, because I can't ruin any settings here. It fails again because of unreliable companies.
Hopefully by the weekend I can devote myself to the software and the settings in a relaxed manner.

Einen Tag habe ich damit verbracht die beiden Frontplatten zu bearbeiten.
Die Innenmaß Höhe stimmte, die Breite nicht. Bei den Löchern für die Schrauben war es umgekehrt.
Der erste Einschalttest, hier im Bild mit 36V sah wenigstens gut aus.
Eigentlich wollte ich mit der mobilen Antenne beginnen, da ich hier keine Einstellungen ruinieren kann. Es scheitert wieder mal an unzuverlässigen Firmen.
Zum Wochenende kann ich mich dann hoffentlich entspannt der Software und den Einstellungen widmen.

I only have 4 sets of printed circuits and various components left.
are some people interested in getting a positioner?
it is a device that can only interest people like us: passionate about satellites and with large satellite dishes.
