slightly off topic, but i noticed in Lanzarote all dishes had skew set about 45 degrees - was quite telling.

took a pic...
45 degrees maybe 19.2e 48 degrees maybe 26e or 25.5e, bein sport is on both.
Not sure of reception one of the dishes looks small.

Are ya sure it wasn’t the skew from the local beer or the local gangsters using them for target practice. Much of the island is gone fibre optic and less and less dishes are now in use. Good time to seek out the big dishes for sale now.
Yes I'm.sure.

The Canaries (Spain in general) have certainly gone very fibre optic over the last years, which means that Movistar+ via Astra 19.2°E seems to be limited now to more rural areas.

Astra 1 dishes still seem relatively popular out there though - especially in accommodation aimed at us northern Europeans! All the free German channels plus a handful of French, English (Sky News/BBC World News) and Dutch (BVN) free to air.

Having said that, in Gran Canaria a couple of weeks ago I noticed a lot of the bars seem to have moved to dodgy IPTV for the sport, which was dreadful. About a minute behind TVs showing the broadcast feeds, jerky picture and constant buffering/crashing of the cheap boxes. It must be very cheap or free... A more dedicated sports bars seemed to be showing football via the Dutch package on 23.5°E.

LNB Skew was definitely pretty pronounced on the 19.2°E dishes there too, I can confirm.

Yes that makes sense. The decline of big dishes due to dodgy IPTV . With sly glass tho the chances of decent dodgy IPTV increase i would say

Yup that's probably going to be the case.

The funniest thing I saw was a bar showing the Spain - Portugal match, via Portuguese TV (RTP1 HD) on a dodgy IPTV box. :D The same game was being shown on Spanish terrestrial TV...

Most of the solutions are based around 7w Nilesat for Bein and 30w Hispasat with their digital sports package. Not legal of course. No sooner do the bars buy into it the seller has disappeared. Nothing unusual there

Yes, the relevant footprint beams for bein sports should be easily receivable in the Canary Islands and an enterprising bar owner should not struggle to source a genuine subscription bein receiver if they had the motivation.

Even the best lnb is no substitute for more metal collecting the faint signals from the satellite. Put a bigger dish or do without the UK beam

The best LNB for you is an VPN to watch BBC & ITV etc. via Internet from their sites.

Kabelio on 13e is a subscription-based service that's about £10 and has the main UK channels.

they require an address in Switzerland...
Will a camping or hotel address suffice?
