Like you, who knows! Its there sometimes when its bucketing down, then gone when its spitting at the same time on another day. Some mornings I wake up and there is no signal with clear skies and other mornings it stronger than ever.

I agree!

Today my signal has been good yet weather conditions same as day before where i was getting picture breakup!

Then tonight it rained and signal improved!!

Prime focus dishes aren't so badly affected by rain as there is no plastic feedhorn cover for water to accumulate on.

Well thats a bit of good news!

Still... This satellite is very strange!

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

With large dishes (and the narrow beamwidth) the satellite will often have a varying signal as it moves round the orbital position - a 100km or so - and the space station keeping doesn't always ensure the downlink antenna is kept truly on the designated footprint area.

Of course it wont affect those in the main catchment area, who are using small dishes, but for those on the fringe....

Just in case anyone feels peckish, I said "canopy", not "canapé".

It's a good job I can spell, I don't fancy trying to eat a canopy. Just a little bit too much texture for me.lol.

Good for you - it's a great feeling when you owe nobody a single, solitary bean.

Been there

Done that

Still doing it

Right guys...

Something needs to be sorted now, the signal has got worse everyday since the install!? Only by a couple of % but its enough... usually its locked on when i wake up at half 8, currently its on off lock.

Before I loose my mind with this dish... I need some Ideas?

First point of call I would say from what others have said is a new LNB?

What should I go for?

It must have atleast 2 outputs for V's & H...

Verticals will lock all day long, at the moment 47%, H is 42%...

On the 1.8m dish the V & H were 1% difference, alot less then this?

The new Inverto Black Ultra seems to be getting rave reviews, and now that they've brought out a twin flange version I'm very tempted:
Code:
http://www.inverto.tv/products/product.php?id=175&typ=3&PHPSESSID=baa46f945bcd82fa19f9288a0fb55b8a

I'm not sure that this will improve your signal enough for what you want.

Unfortunately your dish doesn't seem to be performing as it should, even after being professionally aligned, it might be time to go for the 2.4M model you were looking at, unless CH has some more ideas.

That lnb does look good, do you know anywhere that actually sells it?

Perhaps if you could emulate the rainy conditions where the signal improved, could be that the rain on the deaf panel improved the reflective capability. Try putting the hose on it.

signal was not improving today!

and as the signal has got gradually worse everyday i decided to have a play and think i found the issue...

The lnb i have is very heavy, and i noticed it has dropped down abit, so i pushed it back up and signal went up and picture locked clearly!

so I put a strap round the lnb and lnb arms to pull it up abit and guess what! Now watching ad sports 47/48% signal!

Sure I can get abit more signal but that will do for now! I can enjoy the footy :D yay

Good result, let's hope the signal now stays fairly solid, I assume winter will be the big test, especially if we have any snow !!!!!
If you do decide to try the Inverto please post back with any details on the difference in performance.
