I thank you!!!

Yourself, Matt, and Red are doing really well considering you all started race(s) behind, especially in your case.

What a dull race. Sod all passing on the track & no incidents to liven the race up a bit and give the minnows a chance to pick a few points up.

You never thought it would live up to the hype did you :p? Silverstone, I hate to say, isn't the greatest track on the calender, I think maybe it's time they build a track somewhere new, in the Midlands would be most appropriate.

I watched the Toronto Champ Car race this evening on Eurosport 2. What a cracking race - plenty of passing, a dry-wet race caused havoc with strategy and there were incidents and accidents right up to the checker flag at the end.

Oh and a first lap accident removed nearly a third of the field :-lmao

As my other half said "it was a good race - far better than the crap GP this afternoon"

If thats the sort of turgid rubbish Silverstone is going to serve up as "motor sport entertainment" the sooner they lose the British Grand Prix the better. Bring back Brands Hatch :-rofl2

A street course round Cannock & Hednesford would be FAR more entertaining :p

Yes I've done OK. I had Lewis Hamilton in my team from the first race and I've been fairly fortunate with my other selections as well - so far!

As we have the weekend off, I thought I’d bring out some stats about the season so far:

* NEW members of the league have, on average, scored more points – 727.9 – than old members – 658.7.

* ALEX’S Spanish Armada has, somewhat ironically, sailed across the standings more than anyone else – having moved a total of 16 positions and has, uniquely, moved position following every Grand Prix.

* REDDEVIL’s team, the Speedy Devils, have been the biggest climbers overall. The champions have raised 8 places so far.

* WOLF’s bangers are the biggest fallers, a total of 12 places from 5th after Malaysia to 17th after the British race.

* IF one were to determine the standings by average scores from Bahrain onwards, Team Oily, Speedy Devils, and Draconigen would be ranked 8th, 9th and 10th respectively.

* LOOKING BACK to 2006, Lancelot’s TSU (The Smeg Ups) have improved the most so far, up 7 places from finishing in 15th last season. Tom34 is the most disappointing, down 10 places from a 6th place finish.

* NO SURPRISE that Norm’s Aberdonians have scored the highest on one GP – 153 points in the USA, which is also the 12th highest single race score on Pure Fantasy F1. Wolfs bangers have scored the lowest thus far, 26pts in Great Britain.

* THE UNITED STATES Grand Prix was the highest scoring for all with 1511 points between us, whilst if you exclude the first 2 races, Bahrain is the lowest scoring with 1166pts (actually lower than Malaysia as well).

* SUPALIGA proves to be a great leveller amongst its members, as if you exclude rolfw’s massive post count, the top 9 have less post altogether than those in the bottom 9 on the forum.

* AND FINALLY… the top 3 – Norm, kreachers, and dangermouse1977 – are amongst the 4 lowest in terms of post count of the league members!

It must be said that this season has been much harder than last, I'm very pleased to be 5th at the moment. With any luck, Norm will win the whole thing, Pure Fantasy F1, and then we can claim to have the 'World Champion' in the league.

Winkelhock gets Spyker seat for Europe

'Silverstone, 18 July - The Etihad Aldar Spyker Formula One Team is pleased to confirm that Markus Winkelhock, the team’s reserve driver, will partner Adrian Sutil at this weekend’s European Grand Prix at the Nürbürgring.

Markus, son of the late F1 and sports car driver Manfred Winkelhock, is thrilled to be making his Formula One debut in the Spyker-Ferrari F8-VII at his home race in Germany. ‘Obviously it’s a dream come true’ said the 27-year-old from Stuttgart. ‘I haven’t had much time in the car this year but I’m physically and mentally prepared. It’s a one-off opportunity at the moment and I will make the most of it.’

Colin Kolles, team principal and managing director, added: ‘I am pleased to be able to reward Markus for his patience and loyalty to the team over the last 18 months with his F1 debut at the Nürbürgring. It’s very much a one-off race at the moment as we need some more time to decide who will be Adrian’s partner for the rest of the year.’

Official Qualifying Result

Today's qualifying session demonstrated the dangers of the sport when Lewis Hamilton's front right tyre nut failure resulted in the Brit colliding full-speed into the tyre barriers.

As of time of print, Hamilton is reported to be in good health, although whether he will feature in Sunday's race depends upon the judgement of the medics and stewards.

As the accident occured early in the final top 10 session, Hamilton only recorded a fuel-burn period time, and should he be cleared to race, will be 10th on the grid.

Hamilton's misfortune has benefited Ferrari, with Raikkonen continuing recent good form with pole position, and team mate Felipe Massa is 3rd. Alonso finds himself in the Ferrari sandwich, the champion is 2nd on the grid.

BMW pair Heidfeld and Kubica are 4th and 5th respectively, Red Bull pilot Mark Webber is 6th - much to the frustration of the fellow Bull Coulthard who finds himself 20th after being trapped behind the Aussie in the first session.

Kovalainen and Trulli occupy row 4, whilst row 5 hosts Ralf Schumacher and Hamilton.

Official Race Result | Full Story

Incredible rscenes were seen in the rain at the Nurburgring, as Fernando Alonso secured a crucial victory to set-up a mouth-watering weekend in Budapest.

Spyker manager Mike Gascoigne saw the impending wet conditions when he called debutant Winkelhock into the pits for the start. Just seconds after the start the clouds opened, leading to one of the most memorable 10 minutes in F1 history.

The BMW’s collided, Hamilton’s left rear was punctured by one the spinning BMW’s, nearly all were called to the pits straight away, and Raikkonen missed the pits! Winkelhock was now leading the race!!!

Just a lap later and turn one turned in a gravel car pack as Button, Hamilton, Sutil, Rosberg, and Speed all lost control and ended up in the rough stuff. Hamilton, however, managed to keep his engine running and the stewards helped him out on to the track. A red flag followed.

Over 15 minutes later, and the race restarted behind the safety car. Hamilton’s decision to pit for dry tyre would prove his downfall as the track was still far too wet to allow them to heat up. The Brit finished in 9th.

Following the first proper round of stops, Massa led Alonso, Raikkonen chasing. However, it was not long before the Finn’s luck ran out yet again, his car suffering hydraulics failure.

Prior to the second visit to the pits, Massa was as much as 8.3 seconds in front of Alonso, but the champion began to close-in.

After yet another visit to the garages to switch tyres, the Spaniard was hot on the Brazilians tale, and just 4 laps from the end the pair went wheel-to-wheel before Alonso captured the lead and victory at the Ring.

Luck and great judgement saw the Red Bull team finish the weekend with a podium for Webber and 5th for Coulthard, the Williams of Wurz separating the duo, whilst the Heidfeld-Kubica BMW double-act secured 6th and 7th for the German operation, Kovalainen captured the final World Championship point.

Drivers’ Championship

Fernando Alonso is now a mere 2 points behind Hamilton, who was unable to improve on his 70 points. Massa overtakes team mate Raikkonen for 3rd, 59 to 52.

Constructers’ Championship

McLaren have increased their breathing space from Ferrari, they now lead 138 to 111.

Copa SupaLiga 2007, Round 1, 1st Leg
