Hi all. I emailed Fantasy League just to thank them for a great game, and that we're all enjoying it, and to ask them whether they would be making a fantasy game for the World Cup finals... heres the reply:

Jason,

Many thanks for the comments, we always like to know how our games are
regarded, especially from the people who actually play them!

We will be doing something World Cup games for sure, but as of yet it will
probably be up to Teletext if they wish us to create a World Cup game for
themselves. As soon as details become apparent, it will be made known in the
site.

Good luck for the rest of the season :-)

Cheers,

So it looks VERY promising. I will keep a close eye out, and if/when I see anything, I'll let all know and hopefully we could have World Cup SupaLiga (although I'm not happy with that name, and might run a poll about what name to have, although thats all in the future!).

It occured to me that since this is a satellite TV forum (I'm slow me:p), I should provide a list of broadcasters for each GP. You can find TV listing, well at least for the race on Sunday's at... http://www.knplogic.com/sport/F1_2006.html. Would be nice if someone knew broadcasters for qualifying and free practise (just a hint!).

So far, the qualfying result remains the actual grid position of the drivers, with no engine changes. However, it was a new Renault engine debuting in the GP, only in Fisichella car, which provide the great, with Giancarlo failing to qualify for the final top 10 qualifying session, instead starting in 11th. I think everyone will agree that Fisichella is not putting performing to his ability.

Pole went to Michael Schumacher, who by doing so, has broke Aryton Senna's record of career pole positions, so well done to him :-applause. He is followed by a Honda 2-3, with Button (2nd) and Barrichello (3rd) in fine form, and Massa (4th) completes the front two rows. Champions leader finds himself in 5th, followed by the midfield driver of the day Ralf Schumacher (6th). McLaren occupy row 4, with Kimi (7th) heading Montoya (8th) - expect a charge up the field from them.

Lower down the field, theres disappointment for Rosberg (13th), Coulthard (14th), and Klien (17th). However, Viantonio Luizzi, continues to outperform the supposed lower powered modified-V10 Toro Rosso, qualifying for the second session of qualifying and is 16th on the grid.

PS. sorry for the criminal lateness of this report, went to Calais for a booze cruise with the old man yesterday (24 bottles of San Migel for under £11, not bad!) and tried to avoid football scores until Match of the Day last night!

this teletext league rules are a load of terribly obscene stuff'O'-red

shuey takes pole
shuey wins race
shuey gets 11pts
alonso gets 14pts

go figure

in the week, i'm gonna go through the 4 race finishes (just to see) what i would have fought (yes with an f) the league should be. and then compare against teletext, practice log and hypothetical

it seems to me( and i might do it with a pratice team that you just pick the top 2 drivers and say 4 out of the bottom 6. wheres the skill in that

ps i should have stuck with these pair lucky and dip

Indeed, I think I may have pointed this out earlier on myself if I recall. However, the flip side to this is that if you have the knack of able to pick a driver which finish higher than the grid position, I think your generally very good. If I was making the rules, I would give half points for qualifying places, but unfortunately I'm not, so the rules are a slight bit of an ({}) .

A slightly more quiet affair at this weekend's race in San Marino, with pole-sitter Michael Schumacher claiming victory for Ferrari on home soil.

Although Alonso challenged for some time, the Spanaird was never able to pass Schumi on this tight circuit, and following the final pit stops, it was clear the German was racing to victory. Juan Pablo Montoya, having qualified in 7th, had a terrific race, claiming 3rd on the podium, while McLaren teammate and World Championship contender Kimi Raikkonen had a uneventful Grand Prix, coming in 5th, with Massa ahead of him in 4th.

Jenson Button (7th), who early in the race looked in real contention for a podium finish, was cruelly punished for a mistake by his lollipop man in the pits, who was too quick to signal to him to go while the fuel pump was still attached to JB's car, thus when driving away, Button took out half his pit crew with the still attached pump! Giancarlo Fisichella completed his miserable weekend in 8th.

Further down the order, one may notice the curiousity that is Toro Rosso, whose two drivers both completed the distance, while the senior Red Bull drivers both failed.

Drivers' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/driver/2006.html

World Champions Fernando Alonso continues to lead (36pts), although Michael Schumacher made up some ground, now on 21pts. Kimi Raikkonen fell further away from the leader (18pts), and now desperately needs a great run of form in the European season. Jenson Button falls to 6th in the standings (13pts).

Constructors' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/team/2006.html

Renault lead the field on 51 points, with McLaren behind on 33pts, who themselves are closely followed by Ferrari with 30pts. Honda (15pts) and Sauber-BMW (10pts) trail some distance now.

Full story - http://www.formula1.com/race/news/4266/754.html

In SupaLiga, last GP's leader 'pipjacks' fall down to 3rd (57pts), with new leaders, Sheldon's 'Speedy Devils' totaling 70pts. 'IG Racing' remain in 2nd (61pts), while 'Wolfs bangers' rise from 5th to 4th (55pts). Matthew James' 'Dragonigen' (origin of name please???) jumped into 5th overall with 50pts, but 'F1 Aberdeen suffer a fall for 3rd to 7th (41pts), behind Tom's 'Tom34' (45pts).

NEXT GRAND PRIX... EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX @ NURBURGRING... MAY 7TH...

Just thought I might add the observation that in SupaLiga, it is very close further down the standings - from 9th ('bronking buckos'/'Team Carros'/'The Smeg ups' - 36pts) to 16th ('Jose`s Marinos' - 30pts), there's only a 6 point margin, so hopefully this will continue, and also the leaders don't do a Chelsea and leave the rest of us strugglers behind O-Ha .

No, you'll need a team changes code, which is changed and is avaliable before every GP on teletext pg 597. I shall post this code prior to every GP, so keep a look on the thread, and on my signature for a direct link to the code post. And well done the bangers!

The competition won't start until May 18th, so sometime until then. Also, I will run a competition to decide the name of our World Cup fantasy league in the run up to the 18th (purely for fun of course), so keep an eye out!
