I reckon you have to go with the official start order, otherwise it gets horribly complicated.

If that second pic is supposed to represent Scumi - it needs to be a donkey :-lmao

After I spoke to Mr. Horse on the phone (he is still in jail):

Yes, you have got to use the actual starting order.
Mind you, FIA can actually decide to get rid of someones points for the whole year, they did it one before to that unsporting and cheating t*** Schumacher in 97...

But if he started last, that's it. Same as with the guys who go 10 places back because of the engine thing. Qualify first but start 10th...

I'd argue in favour of using the qualifying times, as supplied on the F1 website, as you havent changed it for engine change penalties previously, and technically speaking you could classify Schumacher's grid relegation as just another form of penalty.

http://www.formula1.com/race/result/757/8.html

It was a fantastic race this Sunday, with Fernando Alonso taking his first victory at the flagship event of the F1 calendar. For much of the race, Kimi Raikkonen was in constant pursuit of the Renault driver, but mechanical failure yet again came to deny Raikkonen a podium finish in what is becoming a nightmare season for the McLaren pilot. Mark Webber also led for a short time before pitting and eventually succumbing to exhaust failure in frustrating fashion.

The greatest benefactors of both Kimi’s and Mark Webber’s DNF’s were Juan Pablo Montoya (2nd), and David Coulthard, who captured Red Bull Racing’s first ever podium finish on a weekend in which they were sponsored by the ‘Superman’ film franchise – how appropriate!

Ruben Barrichello (4th) continues to embarrass his Honda team mate Jenson Button (11th), while qualifying cheater/rule infringer Michael Schumacher came from a start in the pits to finish in 5th.

Other noted performances are that of Giancarlo Fisichella (6th) and Vitantonio Liuzzi (10th), who continues to outperform his car.

Drivers' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/driver/2006.html

Fernando Alonso (64pts) increases the gap on Michael Schumacher (43pts), while Fisichella is now level on 27 points with Raikkonen.

Constructors' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/team/2006.html

Renault (91pts) continue their march to a second successive championship, with Ferrari (63pts) and McLaren (50pts) falling further away.

Full story - http://www.formula1.com/race/news/4435/757.html

In SuperLiga, the top two have made gains on the rest of the pack now, with ‘Speedy Devils’ still on top with 170pts, with ‘pipjacks’ (158pts) reducing the lead to 12pts.

‘IG Racing’ (129pts) are now being dragged into a fight for 3rd with ‘Wolf bangers’ (122pts), while ‘Draconigen’ (5th - 119pts), ‘bronking buckos’ (6th - 116pts), ‘Honda/Williams’ (=7th - 114pts), ‘Tom34’ (=7th - 114pts), and ‘F1 Aberdeen' (9th - 111pts) all form a tight chasing peloton.

The big casualties of the weekend were ‘Bussola’s dream team’, who drop from 8th to 13th, only adding 13pts to make a total of 96pts.

Also, my ‘Super25’ team (88pts) actually overtook someone, while the ‘hypothetical’ team (70pts) quietly eye-up their next victim, Bob’s ‘Smeg ups’ (83pts).

NEXT GRAND PRIX... BRITISH GRAND PRIX @ SILVERSTONE... JUNE 11TH...

I feel its better to be consistant and always go by the qualfying table on the website - if you start making exceptions then it would just become v confusing.

thanks! SupaLiga's getting proper exciting now, especially the fight for 3rd n 4th spot with that close pack in the middle of the table! If only Raikkonen was actually able to finish a race, both in my own interest O-Ha, but also cos I think it would really change the scoring.

Well, where is the vote??
I still think you should go by the actual starting grid and not just the times, because a penalty is a penalty, even if it is because of engine changes or cheating. At the end of the day qualifying is there to determine the starting order, and therefore we should use this.

In F1 they don't use it, but in other series you might get a point for being on pole. Also, you will find that Schimacher won't get this one credited as a pole on the official statistics (same as his race wins from the 97 season were deleted).

But, if you decide to take account of this penalty, you would surely need to ammend all previous results to take account of engine change penalties as they arent taken account of on the qualifying time list either?

Can't believe I'm arguing in favour of a decision which will worsen my points score and help those with Schumacher on their teams!

Yes, in theory you should do that. One could argue that engine penalties are not necessairy, but penalties due to cheating are a must.

I cannot understand why they don't update the official site! If someone wins a race but afterwards gets a penalty for whatever reason and loses the place (as happened already this year), they don't keep it as a race win, do they?

It might be a lot of work though to rework the thing, so really it is down to you to decide if you want to or not.

Well, you know my position, and I must be genuine as I have absolutely nothing to gain from Schumacher keeping pole :p Why dont you try sending out a PM to everyone in SupaLiga/LOG? If you set an absolute deadline of Wednesday midday, I think thats fair enough.

You make a valid point, Schumacher cheating was the first of its kind this season, so you could make a rule that any driver who cheats and is penaltied by FIA, the penalty will also stand in LOG. In that way, you wouldnt have to go to previous GPs because it hasnt happened before this season.
