I've put in Fisi myself ('Fishy Killa' O-Ha), his been brilliant lately. I'll miss Montoya alot, he seems to be the only driver with any personality, if you don't count Schumi and Coulthard when theyre angry.

For the second Grand Prix in-a-row, Michael Schumacher secured pole in Magny-Cours, and Felipe Massa also repeated his Indy showing of 2nd on the grid to form another all-Ferrari front row.

On the second row, Fernando Alonso is 3rd after another tough looking weekend so far (having gone off-track repeatedly in practice sessions), while Toyota driver Jarno Trulli duplicated his USA race finish of 4th in qualifying, and the Italian needs only to turn his head around on Sunday to see his team mate Ralf Schumacher residing in 5th on the grid.

Kimi Raikkonen, now McLaren’s main focus following the sensational departure of Juan Pablo Montoya this week, qualified in 6th, and replacement team mate Pedro de la Rosa was 8th. Giancarlo Fisichella finds himself in a McLaren sandwich in 7th.

Futher down the grid, Jenson Button continues to suffer embarrassingly in his Honda, qualifying in 19th, but will be 18th on the grid due to the engine change of Nico Rosberg who lines up just behind him. Of noted surprise also was the dismal display of the BMW-Sauber team, who in Saturday morning practice clocked the top two times, but in qualifying fell well short – Heidfeld in 12th (11th in grid), Villeneuve in 18th (17th on grid).

With the World Championship fight back on, and any ideas of retirement expelled, Michael Schumacher’s victory in Magny-Cours was a pivotal moment of this 2006 season.

The German looked dominant throughout, and could have made even more headway in the Championship had Alonso, and his Renault team, put in an amazing recovery to take 2nd from Felipe Massa towards the end of the race.

Toyota were also on for an amazing double points scoring weekend, until Jarno Trulli dropped out, leaving Ralf Schumacher to claim 4th spot for the Japanese team. Fisichella finished 6th ahead of McLaren replacement de la Rosa. Nick Heidfeld of the BMW-Sauber team took the final point in 8th.

This will not be a race for Honda to remember as Barrichello retired early on with engine failure, and Jenson Button wrapped up another nightmare Grand Prix with retirement only 9 laps from the end.

Drivers' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/driver/2006.html

Michael Schumacher (79pts) closes the gap further on Fernando Alonso (96pts), now a 17pts difference, and Alonso need only to fail a race for the title chase to be truly on again.

Constructors' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/team/2006.html

Fisi’s relatively poor showing has impacted in Renault’s (142pts) lead over Ferrari (121pts).

Full Story - http://www.formula1.com/race/news/4650/761.html

In SupaLiga, little changes at the top with ‘Speedy Devils’ now on 292pts, ‘pipjack’ on 269pts. ‘Tom34’ (226pts) overtake ‘Wolfs bangers’ (222pts – 4th) for 3rd, while ‘IG Racing’ fall further behind, now level with the ‘F1 Aberdeen’ who rise sensationally from 8th to 5th, both with 211pts.

‘Burnin’ Rubber’ (206pts) also jettison up the table, moving from 9th to 7th, dropping in the process ‘Team Carros’ (195pts) and ‘Draconigen’ (194pts) to 8th and 9th respectively, ‘Team Oily’ (193pts) now only a further point behind in 10th. ‘bronking buckos’ and ‘GameboyUK’ are not far behind them, both rising to joint 11th on 190pts.

‘Honda/Williams’ (185pts) suffer a fall from 9th to 13th, only 2pts in front of ‘Jose`s Marinos’ (183pts) who maintain 14th place, as do my ‘Super25s’ (167pts) stay in 15th.

The ‘hypotheticals’ (16th – 165pts) dig the knife in ‘Bussola’s dream team’ (17th – 150pts) again, and the ‘Smeg ups’ (146pts) remain stuck to the bottom of the league.

This was meant to be the weekend when Michael Schumacher truly relaunched his assault on Fernando Alonso’s title on home soil. Instead, qualifying would provide the German crowd with a different kind of home victor.

It would be McLaren, powered by German Mercedes-Benz engines, which rocketed Kimi Raikkonen to his first pole of the season. So fast was his time, which many suspect to be courtesy of a low-fuel load, was more than a tenth of second fastest than Schumi’s best effort. Massa (3rd) is just behind his Ferrari team mate on the grid, and Jenson Button finds himself where he (arguably) should be in his Honda – 4th on the grid – after recent shocking qualifying performances.

Alonso had a dismal qualifying, not only well back in 7th, but also out-qualified by team mate Giancarlo Fisichella, who is 5th on the grid for tomorrow’s race. Barrichello (6th) finds himself in the Renault sandwich, while the top 10 is rounded off by Ralf Schumacher (8th), Pedro de la Rosa (9th), and David Coutlhard (10th).

Saturday’s disappointing performances include single lap French GP leader Jarno Trulli, who finds himself way back in 13th, and Williams driver Mark Webber who only just missed the top 10 final qualifying session, placed in 11th.

The title fight on well and truly on, as Michael Schumacher took victory in Hockenheim. The Ferrari team were completely dominant throughout, with Schumacher leading all the way after Kimi Raikkonen’s expected early pit-stop, Felipe Massa was always close behind, backing his team mate up should any unexpected challenge come.

Raikkonen would still finish on the podium in 3rd, a good finish in a less than successful season for the Finn, while Jenson Button (4th) found himself backup with the big boys once. In 5th was Fernando Alonso, who must now be fearing his world title is in the balance, and Renault colleague Giancarlo Fisichella was in 6th. One must remember that Renault were not able to run their ‘damper’ device this weekend, but will again be permitted to use them in Hungary - so was it all about the damper, or is their a real tyre war between Bridgestone and Michelin? Next weekend could well be crucial on that score at least.

Having qualified in 13th, Jarno Trulli pulled another rabbit out of the hat by ending in 7th, while Christian Klien wrapped the final Championship point for Red Bull.

However, ITV driver of the day was Mark Webber, who was looking ever more likely as the race went on that he was going to capture a spectacular podium for Williams, only for a water leak(!) to deny him just 8 laps from the chequered flag.

Drivers' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/driver/2006.html

With the gap now down to 9 points, if Schumi were to win all the remaining Grand Prix, he would be World Champion. Massa (50pts) also leapfrogged Fisichella (49pts) into 3rd.

Constructors' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/team/2006.html

Just 10 points separate the big two, this Championship could well be decided on the performance of Massa and Fisichella.

In SupaLiga, ‘Speedy Devils’ now move even further in front, 322pts to ‘pipjack’s’ 285. ‘Tom34’ (3rd – 246pts) and ‘Wolfs bangers’ (4th – 239pts) also retain their lofty positions.

‘Burnin’ Rubber’ really are doing just that, now tying for 5th with IG Racing – both 229pts – heating up the battle for 5th as ‘F1 Aberdeen’ (228pts), who although dropping to 7th, are only a single point behind. This is an amazing run for the Rubbers as they were 9th as soon ago as the US Grand Prix.

‘Team Carros’ are now joint 8th with the rising ‘Team Oily’ on 212pts, but ‘bronking buckos’ are not far behind – one place up to 10th with 209pts. However, they’re closing followed by the pack tied at 11th with 206pts; ‘GameboyUK’ maintaining that position, ‘Jose`s Marinos’ moving up there from lowly 14th, and ‘Draconigen’ dropping from 9th.

‘Honda/Williams’ (200pts) continue to fall, one place down to 14th, the ‘Super25’s’ remain in 15th for the third race in-a-row, ‘hypotheticals’ also stay in 16th (184pts), but the bottom two swap positions - ‘Smeg ups’ now on 166pts, ‘Bussola’s dream team’ with 160pts.

I just found this little gem - http://funkin.com/the_band/cars/formula_1/

For anyone who can remember, the original ITV F1 theme tune was quite a funky little one. Why on earth they got rid of it is beyond me. Anyway, it was by Jamiroquai, and you can download it here.

In what would have been an already thrilling qualifying session, the misconduct of Alonso (dangerous braking in Friday practice) and Michael Schumacher (overtaking under red flags in Saturday morning practice) – and the resulting 2 second qualifying penalties – truly spiced up events in the Hungaroring.

Needing to set time of at least 2 seconds faster then the 17th place drivers in order to gain enter into qualifying 2, Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher set about their task from the off, and duly succeeded. Although they could not repeat the feat to get into the final top session, the rivalry from the title contenders was certainly there when Alonso set a time only just bettered by Michael – clutching his fist in delight. Schumi and Alonso find themselves 12th and 15th on the grid respectively for tomorrow’s race.

And so pole was up for grabs, with the trio of Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa, and Giancarlo Fisichella the likely candidates. It would be the Finn would secured a second successive pole, nearly 300th of a second faster than Ferrari driver Massa. Fisi was a disappointing 8th.

One feels sorry for the Honda team, as their amazing comeback from recent downs – 3rd for Barrichello, 4th for Button – will unfortunately be overshadowed by the title contenders’ woes.

De la Rosa (5th) and Webber (6th) looked good, as did Toyota pair Ralf Schumacher (7th) and Jarno Trulli (9th), but outstanding performance of the day most surely go to Robert Kubica, who on his F1 debut is 10th on the grid and outperforming team mate Heidfeld (11th).

Jenson Button was the hero of Great Britain as he claimed his first ever GP victory in what must be the best race so far this season. Having suffered a 10 place penalty drop down to 14th, his chances looked slim, but a mix of world class driving, intelligent team tactics, and a fistful of luck contributed to the Honda pilot’s first-time win.

In the rain of Hungary, the initial focus was on lowly placed Alonso and Michael Schumacher, who both got off to great starts, and quickly made themselves up the field. However, the choice of wet tyres by the Ferraris began to prove inferior, as Massa struggled to find grip – going wide and sideways on several occasions, and Michael Schumacher’s progress came to a grinding holt, losing pace up against the Michelin intermediate runners as the race went on.

This successful tyre selection would propel Alonso into the lead, and when the leader of the early stages, Kimi Raikkonen, retired in a spectacularly mistimed lapping manoeuvre on Viantonio Liuzzi resulting in the Finn being launched off the Toro Rosso, the Renault driver looked destined to take the full 10 points, and open up the gap with Schumi in the Championship. However, in the out-lap after a tyre change, the Spaniard went off in what appeared to be a suspension failure.

These two big name DNF’s, as well as the earlier retirement of Giancarlo Fisichella, helped to produce highly unpredicted podium finishes for McLaren driver da la Rosa, in 2nd, and Sauber-BMW pilot Nick Heidfeld, in 3rd.

The experienced Barrichello, Coulthard, and Ralf Schumacher came in in 4th,5th , and 6th respectively, while debutant Robert Kubica capped of an impressive introduction to Formula 1 with 7th. Felipe Massa took the final point paying position of 8th, and Schumi was just out of the points in 9th – 3 laps behind the leaders.

Drivers' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/driver/2006.html

The events in Hungary had no effect on the title fight as Alonso and Michael both failed to capture any points.

Constructors' Championship - http://www.formula1.com/archive/team/2006.html

Massa’s solitary point reduced Ferrari’s deficit on Renault to 9 points.

In SupaLiga, ‘Speedy Devil’s’ lead was cut only marginally by 5 points, 343pts to ‘pipjack’s’ 311pts. ‘Tom34’ (262pts) remain in 3rd, but ‘IG Racing’ (254pts) reclaim 4th from ‘Wolfs bangers’ (249pts), who now reside in 5th.

The pressure on 4th and 5th is back on, with ‘F1 Aberdeen’ (245pts) rising to 6th from 7th and only 4pts from ‘Wolfs bangers’. ‘Burnin’ Rubber’ (241pts – from 5th to 7th) hold an equivalent gap on ‘F1 Aberdeen’, while they face even greater pressure from the 8th placed teams ‘Team Oily’, who maintain their position, and ‘Honda/Williams’, who rise a meteoric 6 places from 14th, both on 238pts.

‘bronking buckos’ (229pts) stay 10th, ‘Team Carros’ (223pts) fall from 8th to 11th, ‘Jose`s Marinos’ (221pts) drop 1 to 12th, ‘GameboyUK’ (220pts) drop 1 further to 13th, and ‘Draconigen’ (217pts) drop 1 more further to 14th – who continue their recent woes having been as high as 6th as recently as after the US Grand Prix.

‘Super25’ (206pts) in 15th – that’s 4 race in that position, ‘hypotheticals’ (188pts) hang on to 16th, and the bottom also remain fixed - ‘Smeg ups’ with 183pts, ‘Bussola’s dream team’ resting on 163pts.

This was the best race in ages. Kubiciwotsit impressed on his debut, and recovered well after breaking the nose off the car in the tyre wall :D

the Raikonnen accident was most spectacular and fortunately no-one was hurt apart from dented pride, and best of all Michael failed to finish three laps from the end when it looked like he had second place sewn up.:D

'Robert Kubica has been disqualified from the results of the Hungarian Grand Prix after his BMW Sauber was found to be underweight following the race. Kubica had finished seventh on his Formula One debut.

Stewards praised the "assistance and cooperation" they received from the BMW Sauber team, who proved that Kubica’s car was inadvertently 2 kilograms below the minimum requirement because of "excessive and unexpected tyre wear (and therefore weight loss) through continued use of wet-weather tyres in comparison to the accustomed and anticipated rate of wear of dry tyres."

The stewards nevertheless had no choice but to exclude the car as it did not comply with Article 4.1 of the Technical Regulations. BMW Sauber did not contest the decision. It means Felipe Massa moves up to seventh place, with Michael Schumacher now classified eighth, despite not finishing the race.

The point Schumacher scores means he is now just ten behind Fernando Alonso in the drivers’ championship standings, while Ferrari are only seven behind Renault in the race for the constructors’ crown.'
