I take it that the Glorious Leader was satisfied with the teams performance..........and the team themselves relieved that their relatives jobs in the tractor factory are safe......for now.

The Glorious Leader was most impressed with the brave efforts of the team :D

Looks like the jobs at the tractor factory will remain unfilled for the time being :-rofl2

I see I am propping up the league and Rolf is standing on my shoulders, not sure I understand how it works especially when the majority of my selected squad i.e. 11 of them never even played a match, how is one supposed to work out who will be playing and change one's squad accordingly?

Will not let me do that now and anyhow most of the team on the bench did not play either, seems more like a game of chance than skill unless one has to read newspapers to know what team managers are picking, I'll stick with F1 at least I give an appearance of knowing what I am doing!

I'm getting my "15 seconds" of fame, being 1st after the first game of the 2nd round. Don't believe it will last long... :(

Despite some pretty boring football, clearly a result of coachs' fear of losing, there have been memorable moments so far - Tshabalala's opener for Bafana Bafana, Green's leaky moment, Germany's dismantling of Australia, Reid's last minute equaliser for New Zealand, and of course Switzerland's shock victory over tournament favourites Spain.

Following the completion of the first round of group games, SupaLiga newcomer aamir007 is leading our World Cup league with Spain, but my Three Lions are only three points behind in 2nd.

Blatherskite, the manager formerly known as malcolm, is joint 3rd on 72pts with his Argentina team. He shares 3rd with pazinho and his flying Dutchmen.

john_graydon has so far been unable to transfer his Premier League form, in which he came 3rd, to the World Cup. Johnny is currently joint 11th with trigger's Australia despite managing the mighty Brazil!

SupaLiga's most recent international winners, Norm (Euro Under-21 '09) and S_G (Euro 2008) have enjoyed steady starts - Norm's Italy are 5th after Round 1, whilst S_G and Nigeria sit in 9th

And finally, Analoguesat's 'proud and prosperous' North Korea are in an admirable 8th position.

I don't see any future for the gauloises, only a miraculous miracle will save them. At this point, in my opinion, the strongest teams are: Germany, and Argentina. Brasil didn't really convinced me. Disappointments: France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and England. Surprises: Uruguai, Mexico, South Korea, Japan and (although have lost the game - and to please the Glorious Leader) PR Korea. Uncertain: Netherland.

Speaking on behalf of my adopted country (though I always think of England as home) the French team were complete "merde". At the moment they are as good at football as Sarkozy's wife is at singing. They have no team spirit or faith in their coach. They will slink away from South Africa with their vuvuzelas between their legs. The French media will villify them mercilessly, then blame the ball, the altitude, the noisy South Africans and the food, because as we all know, there is no cuisine that surpasses French..........

I'm quietly pleased with the outcome!!

The French will come back stronger then ever under Blanc at the Euros, I'm sure, I just can not understand how Domenech has held on to the job for so long, he's a nutter....
