Confucius is right, who cares what is inside the concrete :p
Price is also important, especially when you trying to make something from nothing. INOX shavings can not be picked up easy like this IMG_20160606_192457 (Custom).jpg
Sounds like easy job- just drill 16 x 20mm holes in 5mm steel plate, but, man, it takes power and time. On one picture I circled in red small device, but this device helped me a lot today. Can somebody guess what the heck is that? IMG_20160606_145032 (Custom).jpg IMG_20160606_191458 (Custom).jpg
But, finally, all holes are made and threaded rods attached IMG_20160606_200619 (Custom).jpg

That how my excavation place look like now. Need to do some arc-welding of re-bars inside the pit. 75mm plastic pipe is for cables. IMG_20160608_144452 (Custom).jpg
Ant this small device was basically aluminum cylinder wit the hole inside. Cylinder was inserted in the mount hole and helped to mark exact location of needed holes in the metal plates. IMG_20160606_145106 (Custom).jpg

Pedestal mount consisting of 2 big and heavy pieces (I guess ~200kg and ~250kg) is in excavation site. It moved from the very dark corner of the garage and just around the house. Impossible there to go by car :(.... Can somebody guess how many people participated in this "operation"?

As discussed last night, I think that dish is going to be really amazing, even if just receiving Ku-band stuff.

But it just occurred to me - with that size dish, you should leave room at the LNB point for a *transmitter*, and do moon bounces!
This is something I always wanted to try. But I think you need something that size to do it properly!

Where, in the country side, you thing I would get additional 3 helpers?! If you, last night, while in Riga, decide not to drink beer in the restaurant but at my place, you could also be in a great help ;)
"Operation" was done by one person, your humble servant . I used trailer and swung (that is why we need swingers' section in the forum, right @pgh13 ? ;) ) mount parts one by one over the edge of the trailer. And then just pushed/pulled trailer by hands.

I was thinking maybe the 4 guys who helped you take the dish down in the first place...

I would have loved to, but then we would both have had to work all night, and then get up at 4:30 in the morning for you to drive me to Riga Airport... and if I remember correctly, you left the restaurant at 1:30, so as a result I would probably have fallen asleep during my meetings in Kiev later that day!

Very impressive - I suppose you don't suffer from back-problems or "office-worker-arms" as I do :) :)

Sorry to announce, but this, fully renovated 1,75cm PFA will leave my yard by the end of this week. Mirror is powder painted from both sides, polar mount got this nice navy-blue color. Of course, all the nuts&bolts are INOX. Brand new GI-209P LNB is installed.

I was installing 1m3 water tank another day... I think it can be good platform for some SAT-dish. Can you spot the hook? Will probably install some dish there for reception from 24,5*W or 30*W

It is "only" about +30*C today (yesterday was more or less the same) ScreenHunter_20 Jun. 26 16.42.jpg , so it is good time to do some hardware works . Of course, from time to time short visiting summer sower or daughter's pool, it helps for some time. Cold beer is also good solution to situation.
I had 74cm long pipe 140mm outer diameter and 8mm walls, cut that pipe in the middle, made 6 x 18,3mm holes, welded 16mm galvanized :-doh nuts (galvanized is better in this case). Welded flange to the bottom of the pipe. This will become universal antenna-stand for any antenna up to 3m (OK, I do not have 2,4m and 3m antennas :( )

I am very lazy man, but, sometimes I am in proper mood and do some things. Today continued with new platform...... put lots of metal angles and bars inside the hole and welded all joins. And, I think I got some tan from lots of welding... good, no need to go to solarium. Wife starts to be suspicious, I think she feels something is cooking here  . She said she did not like this hole in the ground. I said to her that next week there will be no holes ;) (when I fill it wit concrete).

I was very good (I think) digger today .... dug 2 x ~50cm wide and ~125cm deep holes (circled red). IMG_20160718_175013 (Custom).jpg I did it in case I will be good concreter (person who lays concrete) and fill those holes with concrete. Both basis will be for antennas. Up to 1,8m antenna stand will stay in place #2, but in place #1 plan to place 2mPFA and it will be pointed down to the ground... guess why?! :D.

Earthworm tv?
Or reception of 165E?
My daughter was asking today why I am making this hole, I've said "It is to catch moles" :-rofl2. She did not believe anyway. Wife was wandering a lot and wished those holes to be filled up ASAP. So, I promised to do it soon, maybe even tomorrow ( did not say will that be dirt, sand or concrete, so I did not lie :)) !
But, seriously, I plan to install 2m PFA upside down and use it as umbrella, something like arbor or whatever you call shed in the backyard where you can sit, have some meal, relax, drink beer, hide from rain etc.
