My Satellite Setup
OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

Custom built PC
My Location
Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
I'm using a new (6 month old) Dell PC with the works in it, running W10 pro, 16 GB of ram (all tested good) and 1 TB
"C" drive with a 2 TB "E" drive with SatDump as the only thing on it.

1.2.0 has run fine on this PC until this last few months, so I don't know whats going on.

Maybe some type of W10 update??

3/8/24 1505utc 39 degree elevation to the west. Northbound This is the full image, and apart from a few lines across the southern part of the image thats about as good as it gets! :)

Note the vicious little low pressure from yesterday has dissipated

Just occasionally you get a decent low elevation pass. Im not saying this is the greatest image Ive ever created on my kit but remember Im only using a double cross turnstile antenna. There are no tracking yagi antennas here!

Capture.JPG

3/8/24 1650utc but only 7 degree elevation to the west. Northbound

Thats Newfoundland over to the left having a nice summery day. AM radio dxers of the past may remember hearing CJYQ on 930kHz? Well thats where it comes from!

ive got that good 1441 pass too. Interestingly if you zoom into the image some of the clouds over Scotland are casting shadows - so are considerably higher than the surrounding clouds.

I dont normally post the temperature images but it does show the sharply deliniated high altitude clouds nicely - and some of the shadows.

I haven't had any good scans lately as too many satellites in the same location at the same time.

Question? Are there any other weather related satellites we can look at with the same downlink frequency other then the NOAA's and Meteor's.

That is happening a lot here NOAA 18 passing just before the Meteors.A typical example M2-4 EL 76.17 13.58 utc. NOAA 18 going over at 13.57 utc only EL 11.93 though if I stop it from recording I may get a good scan from M 2-4

WOW...I had an absolutely error free scan on M2-4 late this afternoon, no data drop outs or any glitches.

Here is the RGB pass for that pass. No cropping of the photo either.

Ive had my system turned off through all the ongoing bad weather. I may turn it back on at the weekend as the weather is looking better.
