Hi - C..J.
Hi - C..J.
Found time to put a circular feed on the 2.4 c.m. this afternoon .... result is the same as previous attempts at Russian transponders on this position - Only 12149 gives a good signal and lock
all channels encrypted apart from this test card one

No - John - not a home brew plate ... The large feed for the sub reflector has a sealed cap which i dont want to disturb .. so i put on a regular Channel Master feed with an official c.m. plate ..... curious, did you use a home brew plate in a lnb Nelson ?. or one of the cheaper lnb circular pol ones available ?.

Thanks Nelson, might have a spot of plate fabrication activity to suit a Ku waveguide on a spare C120 lnbf to try on the 2.2m changer.
Wow! Nice catch... What does 69% quality translate to in SNR? Any other transponders - SA beam or Russian?
Says:
"Tricolor" - at the top
"Viewing prohibited by the rights holder"
"But you'll probably find something interesting to watch on other channels - there are so many of them!"
Indeed ..... Its a truly awesome upgradeBloody hell John. That's quite a paraphernalia on that dish!

@John - When you have time .. could you look at 11996 27500
The frequency is used by both DSTV Africa and Trikolor Russia ... i get pretty much zero from the Africa beam (no plate in feed ). ......but a reasonably strong signal (no lock though ) with a plate in from the Russian beam ... the odd thing is i,m getting signal from left and right circular polarity? .... so i,m puzzled - as this is not the case with 12149 .. ....With 12149 i get signal and lock , on one circular polarity only. ..and no signal on its other polarity .
Signal seems stronger in general today despite cloud cover here. 12149 even locked briefly without a plate this afternoon and was showing 10.0 db with a plate in.

Will do Nelson, might be a bit later as i'm having a bit of bother with my dish cam playing up
@John .. Update .... After playing around for a while whilst the signal was stronger last night around 6.30- pm - I managed a lock on 11996 .. and also 12015 and 12054 ....
Only manage a borderline lock on 12149 this morning though .. Maybe signals will strengthen again this evening.

@Nelson, back up and running again - 11.995 LHC 27500. 3/4. DVBS2 8PSK locked on with the GTX Combo but required carefull alignment to get a reasonably stable lock .
Can't see where the frequency 11.995 is used on the Africa beam, tell me more.
For Stats .... 2.2mtr with changer, C120 linear lnbf with teflon plate inserted, location North Nottinghamshire UK.

Thanks - john ... Nice catch .. I agree it is tricky to lock
I think i misread the listing on flysat - and just assumed it was on the Africa beam
Still puzzled why some transponders - (11995 being one of them) - are showing signal on both LHC and RHC and others like 12149 only show in one ?
I,m using a plate in the proper C.M. 2.4 feed throat since last night ... and i,m finding that the depth positioning of it is also quite critical .. by setting it deeper i have strengthened some of the weaker unlocked transponders but lost a little strength from 12149 ... i have 11977 locked tonight which has some FTA channels on it ... unfortunately they are only shopping channels for jewelry etc - l.o.l.
the strength of all Russian transponders has been increasing slightly here since late afternoon, there are quite a few that are 1 - 2 or three db below lock.
