I use both programmes, Crazyscan and Easyblindscan, I tend to use CS when I'm here in front of the PC but will leave EBS going if I'm doing other stuff or want to scan all of Ku etc. What I would like is an option for EBS/BS to add new transponders to an existing file so I can leave EBS/BS on a loop and let it accumulate new feeds while I'm away from the PC.

I've figured out how to use EasyBlind scan and wow this is also neat.

I now really see the value of this software!

Yes, and you can always restrict your frequency range to save scanning time if you are only after a specific band of frequencies on a satellite.

Yep, been doing that with CrazyScan to.

Is there a way to keep EasyBlind Scan to keep on cycling through the range you've chosen?

Any other neat software out there?

Put a check mark in the "loop mode" box

Thanks that was simple and works well!

How do you save frequencies if you're exited mid scan?

Just a quick note for anyone who wants to use EBS to generate a detailed transponder .ini with low sr channel capturing ..
Last night I tried the usals motor postioning which 'appears' to work fairly accurately ..but 2 passes of Intelsat 14 at 45.0°W in ku ...
revealed absolutely nothing captured in the transponder file ..
However ...reducing the 'steps' from the default 5mhz to 2mhz ...captured RASDTV & Canal Adulto ...no problem
Yes it adds a longer scan time ..but is much more thorough..
I mention this because ..anyone scanning for feeds etc ..could in theory miss something easily during the scan.

If you are feedhunting another advantage of EBS is the ability to specify multiple sub bands to scan rather than having to do all of Ku. Look at Lyngsat/KoS/Flysat and work out what parts are used for feeds then set the scan edges accordingly, it saves a lot of time. Just for info, it takes 10 mins to scan each polarity 10700-12750 min SR1000 in 4Mhz steps on my 7301 using W7 64 bit.

This can be done with CrazyScan too, and it makes it far easier to look at the spectrum :)

As a general rule of thumb, a safe bandwidth so one transponder doesn't interfere with the next transponder of the same polarization is 1.35x SR[*]. That means if you want to scan for transponders with an SR of 1.000 Mbps, you need to scan in steps no bigger than 1.350 Mbps, otherwise you will miss some low SR transponders. It doesn't mean that the same scan will miss every low SR transponder though because if your 5MHz step scan coincides with the low SR signal frequency it will find the transponder. So in theory a 5MHz step should easily find all signals down to 5.000 Mbps SR.

* examples
  • Astra 2D is 29.5 Mhz between Tx's for 22.000 SR = 1.35x SR
  • Astra 2A is 39.0 Mhz between Tx's for 27.500 SR = 1.41x SR
  • Hotbird is 39.0 Mhz between Tx's for 27.500 SR = 1.41x SR
  • Thor 6 is 31.0 Mhz between Tx's for 25.000 SR = 1.24x SR
  • Nilesat 201 is 38.0 Mhz between Tx's for 27.500 SR = 1.38x SR
Obviously it is harder to see the relationship when SR and step are different for each and every transponder as is often the case in C-band, or where the band isn't tightly packed with transponders.

By the way is Canal Info News still there? I can't see it anymore even on the spectrum.

Does anyone manage to receive Amos 3 here in the UK? It's on the edge of reception here in the west of East Anglia, usually in the evening. Just wondered if it extends further west or north.

This TP is 11336H, with the TBS6925. -
