Looking good!! :-applause

You will soon need to open the range rings up to 20 miles from that first spike - that must have been at least 100 miles (the "Paris" one).

Bloody frustrating to begin with isnt it?!

Quite agree with you it's a bit of a head scratcher to start with.

The rings at the moment are set to 10 miles. Just as soon as I have had some dinner I will change them.

I was wondering if my very old xp machine would run another dongle?

Now you need to get the antenna outside & as high up as possible. Every metre counts in this game :D

Just need a way of joining 2 sat dishes on 1 coax cable. So I can leave the vu recording the tv channels I want. And still able to use the 1.5 dish for feeds.

:-woohoo

I am uploading to Flightradar24:D

Screenshot 2016-09-20 02.52.32.png

I had to install this program Dropbox - fr24feed_win32_1.0.16-11.zip and delete the dump1090, in the download, and run the one you have been running.

Run the fr24feed program.

And watch what you are doing as I had to do it twice!

24feeder1.png

Should look something like the photo above.

I set mine to a network device, and used port 31001 for the fr24feed program.

A couple of restarts, then I configured the vrs to port 31001 also.

Also setup the PC running all this as a static ip on my network and configured the port forwarding on my modem of port 31001.

Side note I have upnp switched on, on my modem, so that could have opened other port numbers as well.

Now when I want to start the programs, I do so in the following order.

1) rtl1090
2) fr24feed if setup properly wait for both triangles to go green.
3) vrs
4) vrs browser my case Mozilla

Every single time Ive tried to set a feed up its broken something in the general setup using the pi.

With the win7 setup Ive finally managed to set up a feed - Ive joined the lowflyingwales network.

That'll do until I get a more powerful computer set up at some point.

Thanks, but I only see discussion of receiver range, which I've already set up for the range circles and receiver location. Nothing about spikes, or is my brain more befuddled than usual? :(

Been through VRS options and map menus, but still can't overlay any spikes

The only way the option popped up for me, was only after trying to change the port number.

After the message box popped up to say cannot connect. I rebooted the PC, put the port back to 31001, rebooted again.

On the second reboot after changing the port back to 31001, in the menu wheel, the option of the receiver range became visible.

But I have the option of the Receiver Range. It's in the Menu with Range Circles, the box of which I ticked to show them . What extra button do you have in your Receiver Range to enable the 'spikes'? Or did they just magically appear?

Sorry I forgot something important, I only had the option once I changed the port number to anything else.

For some reason only, when I left it set to the wrong port, then I rebooted the PC. Then changed vrs back to 31001, rebooted again, and when I loaded the browser I had the option pop up under the menu cog(top left)

You also need to set the location of your dongle e.g.

For my location 50.94xxxx & -2.64xxxx

Then the spikes should appear.

Yes I already have my location set. No spikes. Chris, did you mention earlier that you changed your browser at one stage? I'm using Firefox like you I think. How do you change in VRS? I could try Chrome or IE.

I have only ever used Mozilla, once I cut and pasted the address in to IE, but soon went back to Mozilla.

Give me 5 mins and I will see if I can find some screen shoots. :)

My location had been set OK, not to the degree of accuracy as yours (2 decimal points). Should be OK I would think.
Not done anything in the rtl1090 config. I'll check that one out when I'm back in VRS mode again - cable presently being used for satellite.
