Why would anyone want to watch a programme just because the audio is a bit better?? :confused
I think it is the opposite. For example once I started watching tv in HD, even if a program is good I sometimes don't fancy watching just because it is SD. But there's nothing going to persuade my to start watching Jeremy Kyle just because it's in HD.

We have talked a bit about frequency reuse etc and what it means to expats like me.I just researched a horrible vision from the past and that is the failed Astra 1K. Does anyone think they could revisit this potential evil???

Well the thing is that satellite never went into service so any truth or myth related to it is all circumspect.

I read frequency reuse between the spotbeams was to be used ie if you live in no mans land between the 2 spotbeams you`d get nothing as the frequencies would cause some degree of interference or whatever...but I agree its perhaps only mythical now...

Sadly it can only increase in the future as the operators seek to maximise efficient use of frequency spectrum as demand continues to rise.

This is slightly off topic but has anybody managed to get the Polish spotbeam in the UK or Spain ??? Astra 1KR seems to me to be one that SES could try and replicate for 2F E and G.I have read that it has been difficult to receive even In Berlin on a 120cm dish....

Hmm so 1Kr is probably the tightest spotbeam in Europe theres been, even though its not active anymore............... A 1KR type spotbeam aplied to the Uk would be about the best technology could currently allow I guess

What spotbeam. They are not using that beam anymore. I get this frequency here on Portugal with strong signal. So can't be a spotbeam.
