90cm dish

Is that on the Fibo 90cm, which is generally better than pretty much all of other 90cm dishes out there?

Yes, but with a fixed dish your not relying on the motor for repeatability.

Why should power be rising? Are they actually increasing the transmission power or is this just a time related thing? I suppose they have to make some adjustment in these early stages and tweak things!

Good morning , last night was fun to see the changes.Variations in the morning are now minimal , between 0'5dB and 1.0dB at most. The new tp are very stable.
If you really occupied the position of geostationary old ASTRA2D 'll see faster, I keep signal variations along the day .In ASTRA2D winter every year in late November to mid February propagation could tune opens and seven vertical tp 's of the 9 who was then in a few days I'll see if levels mantinen or down as then .
When the weather improves , the levels will be more real , now with clouds and rain at times .
I have a 94cm motorized dish, but comparing with other fellow Madrid area, fixed antenna minimum 120cm , 130cm motorized or more to have the same levels.
Currently would recommend minimum offset 150cm or larger to avoid problems with the weather and see the TV 24hours .

A davidcmadrid greeting.
@ Gefiltefish : Nor is whether to congratulate you or give you the condolences .
------------------------------------------------------------------

Cloudy, fall 4 drops.
For boys the test signal levels are much higher than with the old Astra2D touches down something else.

PS: Thanks for uploading the north footprint, I can put back the old antenna 80cm.
----------------
Nublado, caen 4 gotas.
Para los chicos de los test, los niveles de señal son mucho mas altos que con el viejo Astra2D, toca bajar algo mas.
PD: Gracias por subir la huella norte, podre poner de nuevo la vieja antena de 80cm.

Madrid North (40.5458°N, 3.612°W) near Ikea.

My Satellite Setup
Cheap piece of junk Spanish (Tecatel) 120cm(x110) dish, Inverto Ultra twin LNB and Sky HD box.
My Location
Valencia (city)
First I'd just like to say condolences to anyone that has lost all their BBC channels. ITV and Channel 4 (more4, E4, etc) haven't migrated yet but expect the same from them too.

Here on the Costa Blanca 1 metre dishes are now a thing of the past for sure. Not much headroom with a 110cm dish either. All channels play ok but 8PSK transponders are a bit flaky. I'm going to put up a 1.4m for testing later today see how much headroom there is on that.

Now we just need to follow the daily signal trend of this satellite. If it is anything like 2F power will rise over the next few hours.

If anyone local to here needs help getting their channels back feel free to send me a message and I'd be happy to help.

90cm dish (called 1 metre in Spain):

Does this mean my 120cm dish is actually 110cm? I think it might be wider than tall, or the other way around.

Thanks for your signal readings, Huevos - very useful. Only fractionally down on 2F for me - all good.

Situation in Porto / Northern Portugal is:

- Way worse than old 2D (I could pick it up with 1 metre)
- Much, much worse that 1N. Now I need at least 180 cm Prime Focus and even with this dish, I just lost picture for about 5 minutes, since there is no rain margin!!
- Levels are similar/ slightly worse than 2F "fives" TP.

In terms of SNR measured by ET9x00, dropped from >16dB to <7.5 dB in all moved transponders. I need more margin to cope with rain...:(

around costablanca i would say to have a correct signal a 1.30-1.40 min dish will be needed for the whole astra2 spectrum , no more 2.40 dish needed ..that´s very good news

Hi Tururu,

What is the minimum SNR % you need with that tuner for stable reception ?

I just checked remotley the tuner at home and i can still recieve all TP from UK Spot 2e on my 1.2 motorized though i cant see signal level. I have to say im surprised that 2E while appearing slightly weaker for most people compared to 2F doenst have a signifigant difference in footprint , it appears almost the exact same.

Yes Pipino , frankly I didnt expect it to be "so" similar in terms of real life performance especially in regards to the nulls and hotspots out of target .. had i .. clearly i wouldnt have a 1.5m sitting on my roof :) The manufacturing tolerances are amazingly thight when one considers the maths and distances involved

Theoretical noob question, just how big would you guess a dish need to be to get reception in the Algarve. I have a lot of construction equipment and lots of space and I do love a challenge. I'm thinking a DIY monster dish...

There was a report with 2F from a rebroadcaster in the Algarve that they got nothing with a 4m dish.
