My Satellite Setup
Sky+ HD (2GB Amstrad DRX890) + Generic 1.65m x 1.5m offset with Opticum LQP-04H Quad LNB
My Location
Ciutadella de Menorca
Further to my post #39.

Yesterday afternoon, I ventured onto the roof of my apartment block with a Satlink WS-6908 meter to ensure my dish and LNB were optimised prior to the changeover to 2E. They were. Channel 5 SD was badly pixelated on the Satlink but sweet FA on my Sky box.

Checked channels on TV this afternoon to see if there had been any change. All BBC radio and TV channels, along with Channel 5 SD were still dead. I've had an Inverto Quad Black Ultra waiting in the wings so this afternoon I went up top again with the meter to see if changing the LNB would improve matters. Prior to removing the old quad Grundig GLQD40, Channel 5 SD was still badly pixelated on the Satlink with S/N reading 75 and Quality flicking between 34 and 35. Still no Satlink lock on BBC channels. After changing to the Inverto and peaking it, Channel 5 had a steady picture on the Satlink with S/N reading 75 (unchanged) and Quality between 41 and 42 (better). Still nothing on BBC. Checked Channel 5 SD on the TV and I now have a picture. :) Probably no rain margin though and whether it breaks up later in the evening remains to be seen.

So, I conclude that, as I expected, the Inverto Quad Black Ultra is better than the Grundig and, as Channel 5 SD is on 2F's UK Spot beam, it seems that 2E´s UK Spot is somewhat weaker (hence no BBC). At least that's the case here in Menorca.

Not looking forward to the next round of channel migration to 2E. :(

My Satellite Setup
90cm motorised dishes(98x90)+fixed+multiLNB+24Unicable.
Currently 56 satellites, 61°West to 57°East.

Octagon SF8008 4K Twin, VU+Duo², VU+Ultimo4K.
Recycled as the owner.
My Location
North of Madrid (28703 Spain) -3Km of IKEA (40.545847, -3.612012).:-)
On a Vu+ the BER is always zero.
Right, so I say BER0 in Vu+DUO².
In tests on other channels / satellites is always zero pixelando image, not measured, it isreality.
According tuner/image, pressing the Info / Exit key gives information on screen signal levels/SNR and quality/AGC.
For measurements use the DB800S-HD see more real data and the SR is not limited to 1000 and inthe Vu+DUO2.
In the custom list I have created an extra Astra2F/2E/2G satellite with tp's sorted by hand tosee the levels easily and quickly.
----------------------

The forum is almost blocked, I can not upload the photo, leave the link to see the levels quickly.
El foro esta casi bloqueado, no puedo subir la foto, dejo el enlace para ver los niveles rapidamente.

In Valencia area, so far so good, levels started with 8db and they increased up to 10db in a couple of hours, they have stayed there up to now. Let's see how it goes from now to at around 4AM.

Measured with a DM800S and a 1.2 offset.

Is Algarve a black spot for 2E/F? The Canaries are much further away but people do get UK spots there 3m+ dishes.

Apparantly so. I've heard anecdotally that Val de Lobo's 4m dish gets zilch, and I'm getting Zilch with 2m which used to pull in 2D spot beam no problem. Would love to hear that 3m is possible here.

Right. As expected and as reported last night on the other thread no signal whatsoever here the Sintra -Lisbon area with my dedicated Famaval 1.80m dish. No 2E UK spot beam. Nada !!

No idea which is the minimal size needed but according to a forum member living 10 miles away from in Estoril, his 3.20m (Famaval 2.30 with wings) can't pull 2F let alone 2E which appears to be even weaker from the reports for Portugal already posted.

Shame really ....

Further to #81 above, I can confirm that Channel 5 SD started to break up at around 8:15 pm. Now unwatchable. :(

Quick question:

Channel 5 HD on Sky went encrypted in November last year. Could someone please confirm which satellite it's now on and whether it's European or UK Spot? If European, I might be tempted to upgrade my current subscription to Entertainment Extra+ once the dust has settled down.

I just lost 12226h momentarily in heavy rain, This is on lyngsat as being on pan european 1n , so im kind of surprised. Is this one of the TPs that moved ? To be fair it is bucketing it down in MAdrid at the minute. Im unsure if its that my lnb is as deaf as a post around this TP frequency ( its an black eco on a 1.5m dish ) but 2E / 2F spots are fine.

Yes, Algarve serious black spot. We're a lot further west than the main hotspots in Spain, Italy & Germany, but that doesn't explain the Canaries' ability to receive. Maybe someone at Astrium has a holiday home there :-rofl2.

12226H is now on Astra 2A North which is why it's weak for you.

Works fine according to the reports fed to me have seen. No been to one today, but maybe tomorrow.

A selection of reports from my area...a few inconsistencies but perhaps that is due to recent heavy winds misaligning the dishes that have not been realigned...?

My 80cm dish in Gandia is NOT receiving the BBC channels on Astra 2E. (note this was was at 7am not receiving the 2E uk beam signals - but at 9am it is, indicating an increase in signal levels - been fine and pretty even all day even now at 2128!)

A 90x100cm dish (1m) in Gandia is NOT receiving the BBC channels on Astra 2E.
