Being not a specialist or anything when it does move anyone any ideas what size dishes we will need in Tenerife for BBc1 throught to channel 5 ? and will it effect sly sports. Thanks in advance.

SKY channels in SKY sport 60cm more to come with 2F
EUTELSAT fixed beam 1m
BBC was 3m but with FREQUENCY REUSE interference from WEST AFRICA BEAM will make it impossible or not worth the risk of your investment

For the PSB channels no-one knows. You may find things are much as they are now.

However I suspect you will suffer interference from the enhanced coverage west african beam if SES do frequency re-use between the UK & West Africa spots.

Its all guesswork at the moment - we just dont have enough information.

The widebeam stuff should stay more or less as it is atm

sorry you being an expert and all that ,but what do you mean by interference from WAB ??? if its 3000KM from UK to TENERIFE and only 1500km from DAKAR to TENERIFE you just wont get UK BEAM but nice and strong GHANA TV .... not being picky but lots of ppl are asking and best to get the point out there .

We are only assuming SES will reuse the frequencies on the UK & WA spots. I think there will be reuse eventually, but its not been confirmed.

I agree with you TTV that when the WA beam is lit up The Canaries are very likely to lose any chance of getting uk PSB channels direct via 28E - and that may well come to pass when 2F takes over from 1N anyway if the south westerly drop off of the beam is as sharp as we expect

We do know SES will be expanding coverage into WA from 28E both with more frequencies (on two of the new birds) and wider coverage area - thats public knowledge

Perhaps our CI expats can persuade Ghana Channel One to show Eastenders :D

because no one knows, everything is speculation just now but i agreee with you it mostly likely you wont get uk spot in tenerfire being to far from the centre and closer the to WA one

2F won't be active in Nov, it's going to start moving in Nov but 1N will still be active and in full use at 28.2E for another Month at least. As for when it goes in to full service at 28.2E I honestly can't say as I'm not privy to that info but any speculation that it will be in service by the 15th Nov is not true!

How do you know that it won't be active in November? SES hasn't made any official statement about when the Astra 2F is going into service at 28.2 or did I miss something?

All we can confidently say is that things will change for many of the distant locations. Our speculation and predictions for 1N were fairly good, Im not saying we got everything right by any means but considering we dont have any privileged information about whats going to happen I think we did ok with the 1N discussions.

No doubt the same will be true for 2F - and we will just be getting to understand whats possible where with 2F in full service when the excitement starts all over again with the launch of 2E. (Q2 2013) :D

2E will be interesting as that one has the Middle Eastern spot beam on board

Made me smile - How can speculation be true or otherwise??? - its simply that - speculation....

When 1N was in the testing stage, did it broadcast any pictures before it moved to 28.2E ?
And if so, do you expect this satellite to do the same ?

Dont remember any reports of 1N transmitting anything resembling proper transmissions.

New birds tend to be commissioned just using blank carriers

So just speculation as already mentioned.

Lets wait until this bird gets into position 28.2E and transmitting tests with visual content so we can see what is reality

Even if we lose the PSB channels we will have the programming on catch up through Sky On Demand and because it downloads there won't be any streaming or quality problems. (Assuming the Sky On Demand "control signals" are on PE beam)
