Just claim it's a more imaginative version of the French Red, White & Blue (Or is it Blue, White & Red?) flag.... :-rofl2

Considering the present presidental incumbent, it's mainly red....

Well, today's the last day of summer for a while, so best make the most of it while you can, cos the temperatures are set to drop by half tomorrow, cos the chilly air will be back again... O-Ha

..Just hope it doesn't get so cold when it breaks ..
Scottish Power just sent me my quarterly bill for £416 ....and I can't afford to turn the heating back on for a few months.
Work has dried up to basically a trickle ...not taken a wage for 2 weeks in anticipation of the energy companys 3 monthly pocket dipping.
Shop bills first ...me a poor second.
Thats the way it is.

Since the storm thread is closed, I'll post it here.

We have a gale warning down here for tonight, with winds up to 70mph - especially along the Bristol Channel, where my humble dish happily sits. To avoid it flying away, what's the best position for it? Tonight, the winds will be blowing from the south/south-west, so my dish should be relatively sheltered by the building, as it's just peeking over the gutter on the north side. Tomorrow, the winds will be blowing from the west - so should I point the dish to the west (i.e. facing the wind) or point it south so that it's cutting the wind on the edge?

Was also thinking of chaining the dish to the pole, should it break away from it mounts....

Always put mine edge on but obviously if it's during the night and the wind shifts it kind of nullifies doing either.

We've had biblical rain here for the last three hours.....of the 'oi Noah is yer Ark ready yet?' type. Wasn't enough to knock out 13°E or 28.2°E but I've noticed a few postings on the Brittany and Normandy forums wondering why they've lost signals from their mini dishes...

...I suspect here its a question of ..is this the lull before the storm ?
A dry day for us Mancunians ...ie ..just a light drizzle ...what we call lazy rain ..
Worse to come I suspect ..as the weather front moves North.

Just seen this on TV. I am so sorry for those campers, as if things weren´t hard enough. No loss of life at least.

Can we perhaps start a new thread now ...Summer Washout Chat.

The World is changing I think ..
Seasons shifting
Summers Not what they were when I was a kid ..and thats without the rose coloured specs ..
I also watched an item recently on one of the sat channels that highlighted the number of deaths due to heat exhaustion in of all places ..Canada ..
Houses that were designed to keep heat in ..in a relatively moderate climate are now killing people due to inadequate ventilation ..etc as these houses were not designed for the long hot summer days with soaring temperatures ...now experienced by residents.
Last night I was so cold I had my central heating on again ..whilst those guys in Canada couldn't open a window ..or slept outside on some nights ..
People were even spending more time in shopping malls ..because they had air conditioning ..
Then of course the overnight floods in Wales ..
I feel for you guys...
But..
As has already been said ..at least there was no loss of life ..
..but perhaps a few more will start to believe the climate is changing ...and radically.

Summers shorter ..and starting in early spring ...June Monsoons ...I'm just waiting for the snow in August ...and then I'll be totally confused.
btw ..still raining here but not like in Wales ..and has been almost continuous for 4 days.

cest la vie

Maybe they should think about replacing the static caravans with narrowboats sat atop railway sleepers, so when the floodwaters come in,t he boats just float ontop of it, while tethered in place so they don't float off uncontrollably of course... O-Ha

Still, could be worse, could be a proper monsoon for most of the year with very few days of sunshine, with constant heavy rain, rivers flowing so fast that your eyes can't keep up with them, and low-lying flood-plain areas would be lakes, with no chance of even thinking of building there... :)

I'm pretty thankful we live in a pretty calm part of the world, even if it's dreary and wet most of the time...O-Ha
