Well I was expecting this to happen. Everyone's got Brawn and there's really no competition. Even though I had Button from the start
Price change has left me at -55 Mio :(

Hot from Planet F1 News

In their shock announcement that they will form their own breakaway series from F1, the FOTA teams delivered a strongly-worded statement that pointed accusing fingers at the FIA and F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone."

"Since the formation of FOTA last September the teams have worked together and sought to engage the FIA and commercial rights holder [Ecclestone], to develop and improve the sport," read the statement.

"Unprecedented worldwide financial turmoil has inevitably placed great challenges before the F1 community.

"FOTA is proud that it has achieved the most substantial measures to reduce costs in the history of our sport.

"In particular, the manufacturer teams have provided assistance to the independent teams, a number of which would probably not be in the sport today without the FOTA initiatives.

"The FOTA teams have further agreed upon a substantial voluntary cost reduction that provides a sustainable model for the future.

"Following these efforts, all the teams have confirmed to the FIA and the commercial rights holder that they are willing to commit until the end of 2012.

"The FIA and the commercial rights holder have campaigned to divide FOTA.

"The wishes of the majority of the teams are ignored. Furthermore, tens of millions of dollars have been withheld from many teams by the commercial rights holder, going back as far as 2006.

"Despite this, and the uncompromising environment, FOTA has genuinely sought compromise.

"It has become clear, however, the teams cannot continue to compromise on the fundamental values of the sport and have declined to alter their original conditional entries to the 2010 world championship.

"These teams, therefore, have no alternative other than to commence the preparation for a new championship which reflects the values of its participants and partners.

"This series will have transparent governance, one set of regulations, encourage more entrants and listen to the wishes of the fans, including offering lower prices for spectators worldwide, partners and other important stakeholders.

"The major drivers, stars, brands, sponsors, promoters and companies historically associated with the highest level of motorsport will all feature in this new series."

The FIA have confirmed they are to issue legal proceedings against the Formula One Teams' Association following their threat to begin a breakaway series."

The eight members of FOTA - Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, BMW Sauber, Toyota, Brawn GP, Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso - announced last night they would not sign up to next year's F1 world championship, and instead would now pursue a rival series.

Following meetings between FIA president Max Mosley and F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone in the Silverstone paddock today ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix, motor sport's world governing body has now decided legal action is their only recourse.

Confirming their intentions, a statement read: "The FIA's lawyers have now examined the FOTA threat to begin a breakaway series.

"The actions of FOTA as a whole, and Ferrari in particular, amount to serious violations of law including wilful interference with contractual relations, direct breaches of Ferrari's legal obligations and a grave violation of competition law.

"The FIA will be issuing legal proceedings without delay.

"Preparations for the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship continue but publication of the final 2010 entry list will be put on hold while the FIA asserts its legal rights."

If FOTA actually go through with this, I believe it will be the end of F1, with the new FOTA championship become the top open championship. However, I still think this situation can be saved by FIA giving the FOTA teams what they really want - MAx Mosley must be removed. If Mosley goes, I believe 100% that the teams will be open to compromise if it's fair.

Well I for one would like to see the split, but if it doesn't happen, I would like to see Max and Bernie exit the scene, they are a cancer on F1.

I think there has been considerable papering over of the cracks for over a season now since FOTA was formed and it is only since Montizemmelo headed them up that this has become a reality, whilst I agree Max and Bernie ought to get the hell out of the sport, I am not so sure a split will benefit the sport in much the same way as Champ Car in America was a dissappointing failure for all concerned.

All it should take is a vote of no confidence to get rid of Max..

However.. How would ye even start to get Bernie out.. ???

Loads and loads of hundreds of millions £ notes i expect..

But who would have that kind of money to get him out.. ???

Da Montizemmelo perhaps..??? but then there will be a conflict of interest of he heads a new break-away series.. !!!

So the FIA will bankrupt all the dissenting teams and next year will be a bicycle race!

Sebastian Vettel continued his domination of Silverstone by taking pole position on Saturday for the British Grand Prix with a lap of 1m 19.509s in his Red Bull. As pre-race favourite Jenson Button failed in his quest and took only sixth place, Rubens Barrichello was Brawn's lead runner in second with 1m 19.856s. A spoiled first run and traffic at Stowe prevented Mark Webber from joining his Red Bull team mate on the front row, and his 1m 19.868s left him third...

Still not happy about these changes.

For people that picked Brawn, a team that nobody knew at the beginning of the season and to be chastised because of their success, is not right in my opinion.

I really feel like splitting. O-no

The point is that everyone is in the same boat, everyone was picking Brawn and so it's only fair that everyone is penalised. If you were clever enough to pick Brawn from the start, then you will have gained the most advantage from it and therefore will be going into this rule change with a significant advantage in terms of points to everyone else :)

My only fear now is that Red Bull start a run of good performances because it is possible to have an all-Red Bull team!!!

It wouldn't have happened if Maclaren were running away with it.
And I did a straight swap for Honda/Brawn before the racing started.

What seemed to be a foregone conclusion after qualifying became one almost the moment Sebastian Vettel launched his Red Bull RB5 into the lead of the British Grand Prix. In a crushingly dominant drive, which underlined the major step forward that the Milton Keynes team have made on high-speed circuits, Vettel pulled away from Rubens Barrichello's Brawn by as much as a second a lap in a series of quick tours, and never looked remotely challenged...

F1 SupaLiga 2009

Full table and graph attached

Red Bull hit back in Britain today as the Austrian team took a 1-2 in Silverstone with Sebastian Vettel recording his second race win of the season. Although Jenson Button, 6th today, and the Brawn GP team still have commanding leads in the driver and team championships, such a crushing defeat to their biggest rivals on home soil will be a bitter pill to swallow, even with the consolation of Rubens Barrichello finishing in 3rd.Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton suffered his worst ever race finish, ending the day in 16th.

Following the extraordinary price rise for Brawn GP in Pure FF1, today marked a new chapter in this F1 SupaLiga season.

Somewhat coincidentally, Red Bull’s dominant showing at Silverstone was music to many managers’ ears as they were the team that many turned to in response to the price rise. It will be Dazdazdazzy who will be playing that music loud and proud tonight as he is now top of the table, as BTTR scored 159pts to leapfrog Honda-Williams. Kleefarr’s team have fallen down to 3rd, a full 40pts behind my Auto-Dynamo team that now sits in 2nd.

My team scored 168pts. Good, but not as good as SupaLiga champion Oily, 171pts today is his best ever score and continues Team Oily’s steady raise up the table.

Topper tossed out (!) 159pts today to go up 2 places to 4th, while Analoguesat also sees his ScotBorderF1 team move 2 places to 15th.

All but one of the eight teams that failed to score centuries today did so because of the 75 points penalty for being over-budget, so please do transfer out those Brawn GP elements before the German Grand Prix :)
