Probably, especially if you use "too much" resin.

I’m thinking of using 2 K brackets for extra strength.

Should I just use resin on the fixings for one and go ‘naked’ for the second?

From what I read from what William-1 wrote sometime ago, (some??) Technomate dishes have the same type of declination adjustment as the older TRIAX dishes, i.e. could be a "3-handed" job.

Technomate were kind enough to send me over some photos.

I assume they may have changed the back plate, judging by the pic, they may have changed it. I will ask them a pic of the other side to be double sure.

Hello @william-1 Was the technomate dish you used similar to the one below? I did try searching through the posts but couldn't find anything.

Many thanks

The key thing is to have the dish as close to the top bracket as possible, or even below it. A long pole with a bracket at the top & bottom of the post will add stability to the post, but I don't think it's vital for it to be the full length of the it.

An 80cm fixed dish should be fine if mounted in the middle of one of those brackets I linked to, would then only need a very short pole.

I'm going to order the TK brackets etc over the next couple of days for the motorised.

Regarding the other dish I'm thinking of putting up on the fence. The dish will sit near the top of the post, if I only use a short pole. Could I get away with just using one of the brackets below, and have the dish sitting just above the bracket?

As long as the dish isn't "too big" (i.e. 90cm or less??).
For 39e, 42e, 46e, 52e, what size dish would I need to get that spacing?

I’ve seen the bullet lnbs, they’re an option. But I haven’t been able to find a seller that has twin or quads in stock.

A toroidal T90 dish would be fun though I haven't seen them for sale since the B word.

I wouldn’t mind one of them, but I guess it’ll be a bit too heavy for my fence post.

Do you think I could get away with the 3 degree separation on an 80x73cm dish with those amazon bullet lnbs? I think from memory I’ve seen posts of people with 23.5e and 19.2e on one dish, but it’s that extra degree lol.

From what I remember I had 19.2 and 23.5 on the Triax TD88 in the attached photo. Might be doable with two bullet 'LNB's

Zone 2 Sky dish is 75cm wide and I've managed 23.5E & 19.2E with one slim Inverto Mutliconnect LNB & one LNB with a smaller than normal (but larger than rocket) feedhorn. Three degree spacing may be possible with two Multiconnect (or similar) LNBs.

You may find the multi LNB bracket won't let you get the LNBs close enough for 3 degree spacing due to the size of the individual LNB holders, so some bodging may be required. You may have better luck with a monoblock LNB, though these have their own issues.

I think you'd be better off with that dish on a motor if you want sats that close!

I will give it a go one day in the summer, 39e is a bonus, so I'm not too concerned if that one is out of reach. I could motorise these, but as the other three have so much good FTA sport, I ideally want to connect them to a few different rooms.

On another note. I managed to grab a dish the other day. There was a nice fella on facebook who was throwing away a maxx digital dish. 1.13x1.03m is the reflecting area. Not sure on the weight, but it does feel lighter than a 10kg plate. The backplate/elevation adjustment is similar to the technoamte in post 262. Hopefully it performs good too. And it came with a maxx digital motor too.

As I only have a single tuner box atm, I would like to combine future fence dish (39e, 42e, 46e, 52e), my zone 1 dish (for 28.2e), and the motorised dish.

What would be the best way of doing this?

I have seen some people do it:
Receiver ---> Motor ---> Diseqc ---> Dishses

If I do that, would I need to use a Diseqc 1.2 switch and Diseqc 1.2 on the motor too?

I've seen the below Diseqc switch, which is 8-way, and port H says motordrive. I assume if I were to get that, I might be able to put the Diseqc before the motor.

If you are going to get a DiSEqC switch then there is no such thing as a "DiSEqC 1.2" switch - all decent current ones are at least "DiSEqC 2.0".

"Axing" products are mainly just branded versions of generic Far Eastern units, and the same units can often be bought with other names.

From experience I can recommend those from the Czech company EMP-Centauri - even though they are not the cheapest or easiest to obtain, they are well made and work very well, and the supplied instructions (also on their website for each model) are very good as is the tech support (from personal experience) - some that are easily available are listed here

I've never managed to understand what the numbers mean, but the 8-way ones I have Diseqc 1.2 written on them, whereas the 4-way ones have Diseqc 2.0 on them.

From my understanding, not sure if it is correct. If I want to cascade diseqc switch, I would have to use an 4 and 8, or a 4 and 16, rather than a 4 and 4.

If I want to cascade the motor and the switch, can I do it with any diseqc?

Edit: Just figured out how to finally locate a manual on the EMP-Centauri website. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything about combing it with a motor.

I've seen the below Diseqc switch, which is 8-way, and port H says motordrive. I assume if I were to get that, I might be able to put the Diseqc before the motor.

The order you write is the one I prefer: Rec-Mot-Switch-LNBs. No problems there.
This is not really a diseqc cascade, as the motor has an internal loop-through for all the signals passing it (just a tap inside, to tap off the needed motor-commands, and the motor voltage). So in fact that is a parallel diseqc setup, not a serial setup.

When you need more than a diseqc 1.0 (or 2.0) 4/1 switch, and your receiver supports also diseqc 1.1 (or 2.1), then there is no need for an "automatic" diseqc 1.2 switch like the AXING (or identical: HAMA) switch that you mention.
In fact, with that switch you would lose the motor-commands GotoPos1 to 7 to ports 1-7 of the switch, so not available to the motor anymore.
It took me some time to find that out, after some switching that didn't go as I thought it would go...
As with any of these "smart" devices: They do what they 'should' do, but you need to really study what they are programmed to do...! (And check if these are functions you want...)

I believe the EMP switches don't automatically choose diseqc 1.2, but you have to use dip-switches to determine the diseqc-mode you want? That is good, I find.

Here's a little text about 'numbers': lnb skew astra 2e -21deg skew

Greetz,
A33

Thank you for your that A33.

So would I be correct in saying, say if I combine a motor with one fixed dish, than I could just any 4-port or 8-port diseqc switch?

The other option I am thinking of is feeding the motorised dish, a fixed dish, and another diseqc switch with 4 fixed dishes. I assume that is a serial diseqc setup - could that be achieved?

My EMP 16/1 switch has dip switches. Once you work out the correct position of each dip switch is the opposite to what the graphic on the switch's sticker shows, one of the options is DiSEqC 1.2 - if your receiver allows you to assign a position number for a satellite, the EMP will switch to the corresponding LNB input number.
