I wonder if the Middle East beam will use the same allocation as that of West Africa as at 28.2E it must be well out of the way from BADR's TP's at 26E as guess there would be interference issues with smaller dish sizes? Not sure how high up the TP's in use at 26E are, will look on kingofsat now!

I already thought about this a few days ago but there isn't much that Badr isn't already using. There is a block of frequencies from about 11.20-11.45 horizontal only that aren't used as far as I can see.

Yep, just had a look. There's some inactive TP's down the bottom of the band too around 10.8 GHz but we'll have to wait and see. Maybe they've cut a deal to use the 12.5+ GHz of spectrum if Arabsat move their TP's there to current lower vacant allocations?

hello,

so what's the educated guess, will sky move their pay channels to a uk beam?
It would not surprise me if SES have adopted a policy of not offering spot beam TPs to Sky thus avoiding putting BSkyB into the position of potentially having to justify refusing them ;-)

They are not going to mix pan-continental beams and spot beams on the same frequencies. That means 12500 - 12750 is going to be spot beam.

For the time being.

are all powered and SR 27500 2/3, although theres no channels scanning in.

I assume channels arriving on them is imminent.

Someone's getting some nice Sunday overtime. Looks like they are really moving on this.

Not sure if this is a valid test, but if I set the default TP on my DRX890 to 11953H I get 100% signal and over 90% quality. Looks very promising (2.4 m dish in Gran Canaria).

Yes, that's the 2A south beam so should be pretty good your way. It's probably only going to be used for 10 days though.

12422H should be 2A south.

Ah. I see. These ones could be semi-permanent until they move 2A though surely. Isn't 1N likely to move as soon as 2E goes into service or will 2A also move then I wonder.

In the long term chances are that frequency will be used by 2E.

I think 2F is going to take most of the old Eutelsat channels once the rearrangements are done on the 4th Oct with some dual illumination until the 10th.

If you have no signal on 12441V and 12422H that suggests they could be on 1N. For me in the UK the signal comparable to 2A.

12441V is fine here but not as strong as the lower frequencies so if it is 1N then it is UK spot. We can't get 1N pan-European.

Well it's slightly down by a few % compared with the regular 1N UK spots for me, but it is at the other extreme of the band so maybe I can't tell here near London.

I am wondering if the decision to assign that frequency block will affect other orbital positions than 28,2-28,5 east.
