I didn't realise the SCPC feeds up the very top of the spectrum were feeding ETI for German DAB distribution, here in the UK the BBC and Digital One use Astra 4A TP31. I'm thinking that if this is a Eutelsat deal to rent unused spectrum for these feeds then that may lapse and the respective transmitters/downlink sites may all have been migrated to new a feed from a different bird?

interesting they use Astra 4A and a MCPC transponder.

28.5 was - besides 23.5 - the former position of the Kopernikus satellites of the federal post office here. That's why there are still so many feeds, however most have been migrated to 23.5 (Astra 3B ). Both position legally are still under that jurisdiction, that's why we have that odd legal battle ... Media Broadcast who hold the licence now just seem to like SES better than Eutelsat. Telekom (who owned the licence before them) were obviously friends with Eutelsat

Most DAB feeds are now between 12.639 and 12.662 GHz vertical on 23.5 E in SCPC mode (1488 symbolrate).

we need to see this evening more transponder it
and check if will be uplink new signal with 4 tp
11469H
11508H
11565V
11604V
or pe beam or spot beam
it is very unlikely SES will illuminate a 2F transponder on the Eutelsat bands before 4th October midnight, as until then Eutelsat "own" them....

Not going to happen.

SES cannot start lighting up the disputed frequency block until their contract starts on Oct 4th.

What do you mean Solly?
Astra 3A has 11450...11700 & 12500...12750
Astra 2A has 11700...12500

I wonder if Astra 3A (now inclined 1 degree at 23.7 East) is used at all now?
Anyway, Astra 3A is planned to begin a long move to 176.85 West, within 2 weeks.

I also remember there was some talk about 2A helping out at 23.5E but I've been looking at some of the SES publicity leaflets they all talk about 2A staying at 28.2E until 2015.

2A can only do 11.70-12.50 though, so it would probably be more of a backup if moved to 23.5E. SES do like their backups.

Disappointing. The 2A North beam is the only real fly in the ointment with the demise of most of the Eutelsat TPs (UK spot beams excepted)

If you mean disappointing that 2A will stay until 2015 (if we can believe the PDFs) then I wouldn't worry, I'm sure it would only be used as a backup. But I suspect it'll move on once 2G comes along since all three new satellites 2F/2E/2G can use 2A's old frequencies if needed in an emergency.

Yes that makes sense, and like C0re says, Astra 3A is not in use now so it must the backup for 3B now.
A move soon, of 2A to 23.5 East, would free 3A to go 176.85 West.
(Can't link to the fcc.gov doc now, due to the "US government "shutdown").
