Brawn GP's Jenson Button crossed the finish line with two seconds to spare to start his final qualifying lap on Saturday. It gave him pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix, after he completed it a tenth faster than Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel. The Englishman had played second fiddle to his Brawn team mate Rubens Barrichello in Q2, and the Brazilian himself had been pipped for fastest time by Vettel when Button just made it over the line for his last run...

Woo - 17 100+ scores after todays race.

Unfortunately to liven the league up a bit we needed both the Brawns to have been eliminated on corner 2 not the Toro Rossos!

Lets hope Monaco in a fortnight lives up to its reputation of mixing everything up a bit - remember Sutil was running 4th last year when he got rammed by a wildly sliding Ferrari.

Great result by Brawn, no one can stop them! BTW, I will post a report by the end of the night if I can, but my computer is playing up big time so I'm going to have to fix it first!

Brawn GP's Jenson Button drove a pluperfect two-stop race to take his fourth victory in five races in Sunday afternoon's Spanish Grand Prix, leading home early leader and three-stopping partner Rubens Barrichello by 13 seconds. It was a resounding success for Brawn, but Barrichello had Mark Webber right on his tail at the finish as the Australian headed a Red Bull 3-4. His team mate Sebastian Vettel had been trapped behind Felipe Massa's fast-starting Ferrari from the outset, but finally slipped ahead in the closing stages as the Brazilian was ordered to back off to conserve fuel...

Brawn GP, and championship leader Jenson Button, look invincible after a magnificant 1-2 today on F1's return to Europe in Barcelona.

Brawn's domination in Spain gave the all-Brawners, kleefarr and Salty25, the biggest points haul today, as both scored 175pts having also predicted that Button would get pole in qualifying. This equals the all-time SupaLiga record set by Dazdazdazzy and his BTTR team at the Australian Grand Prix.

As a result, Honda-Williams, managed by kleefarr, went top for the first time ever. However, the advantage they hold is slim - 5pts seperate them from misterminibus's Pro-Drive outfit.

For the record, all the managers that went for a team of Button, Vettel and all-Brawn for other elements and correctly predicted Button's (1st) and Vettel's (2nd) qualifying results scored just one less point than the all-Brawn pair!

There was a multitude of other teams who failed to predict one or either of the pairs' results in quali. Champion Oily predicted neither but still moved up 2 places to 11th.

As Analoguesat as pointed out, 17 managers achieved +100pts today, one off(!) the all-time record of 18 in Bahrain this season.

Blimey this budget cap row is getting nasty - theres now 4 teams saying they wont be on the grid next year if the cap goes ahead in its current form:

Ferrari
Toyota
Red Bull
Renault

We'll see, I think it's more posturing than anything actual. I think the budget cap will be raised eventually, but that won't be good news for any potential new teams although USF1 seems absolutely committed to 2010 regardless of what happens.

Can't say I'd miss Ferrari a great deal if it was only Ferrari that left. However, it would definitely hurt support for F1 globally, you only have to look at the stands at many of the races to see how popular the prancing horse is.

For a while it seemed like Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen would take the pole in Monaco on Saturday afternoon, after a series of quick laps left him on 1m 14.927s, but right at the end Jenson Button rushed through to take his customary pole for Brawn with 1m 14.902s. Team mate Rubens Barrichello, celebrating his 37th birthday, snatched third with 1m 15.077s. It was another gripping qualifying session, which saw one pre-race favourite, McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, left 16th on the grid after hitting a wall...

At this rate it'll hardly be worth him turning up the rest of the season. He needs to focus.

Well he doesn't like it now that he is having a taste of how most F1 drivers have to exist, he's been horribly spoiled for his first two seasons, perhaps this season will be the making of him, perhaps even the breaking.

18 100+ scores from Monaco, but as most of the top 5 have the majority of their teams made up from Brawn GP the game is effectively over unless BGP start having some serious problems.

TBH the rules need to be tweaked for next year so that folk cant have more than say 2 items from the same team

Jenson Button had no peer in Monte Carlo on Sunday afternoon. The world championship points leader snatched another full score as he grabbed the lead at the start, eased quickly away from Brawn team mate Rubens Barrichello, and romped home to a comfortable and totally convincing victory."Great job! Fantastic job!" his engineers cried over the radio at the end, as the 29 year-old Englishman whooped and hollered with delight. There was not a single moment when he ever looked like losing this one...

F1 SupaLiga 2009

Full table and graph attached

It doesn't matter whether F1 is in the sunshine Down Under, the pouring rain in South-East Asia, the deserts of the Middle East or the glamourous surroundings of Monte Carlo, there is still one team that all others seem unable to beat - Brawn GP. Another 1-2, and another race win for Jenson Button means that with only six Grand Prix completed, the British team and driver appear as though they will be untouchable throughout 2009.

Brawn's domination has seen the team's most avid supporters in F1 SupaLiga, kleefarr and me(!), take the top 2 places following today's race. Honda-Williams scored 169pts, joint highest of the day with champions Team Oily (10th), also running an all-Brawn set-up.

Pro-Drive have fallen down to 3rd, having scored 150pts, while BTTR drop out of the PFF1 higher competition places for the first time. They took home 145pts today

The big mover this Sunday is Linhas, who has jumped from 18th to 15th by scoring 139pts. Unfortunately for Analoguesat, his ScotBordersF1 team go down by the same number of places to 17th despite getting 123pts this afternoon - his best ever GP result!

And finally, 18 of the 21 teams scored above 100pts in Monaco, equaling the all-time record set earlier this season in Bahrain.

I have to agree, despite myself being one of the two major beneficiaries of Brawn GP's amazing season. I don't think anyone should be allowed to pick two drivers from the same team at the very least.

However, I can't imagine that this will last all season with Brawn, Ferrari are already getting very close to them and Red Bull only need to get a decent diffuser package together and they will surely be able to launch some sort of fightback later in the year.
